It looks nice though, but tbh. we have absolutely no idea about the performance of this, until we get some opposition. What exactly is gonna happen, when 50+ German fighters swoop in, well over 1000 AI gunners become active, and the sim has to start hit and damage calculations for tens of thousands of shots fired, hitting dozens of planes at a time? Mauf Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 I can tell you from the perspective of ~15 bombers with 6 axis players and 10 allied players. 4 of the 6 axis players lose their engines to "one hit -> Engine Gov dead -> Overrev -> Bang" DM, 3 or so B17s break apart from 13mm fire. The remaining 2 axis players dive for home, 10 allied players continue circling around the bombers because they're A. not needed and B. unable to reach the axis players anyhow:)

True. It only makes sense if FM and DM are up to par of what we already have with BoX. 216th_Jordan Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 I'm sure there can be more fundamental AI tweaks to severely reduce performance impact in the future (mainly for bombers). for one I'd think that they could get rid of the AI gunners animations (leave it for the player piloted planes) and simplify them accordingly, as I understand it thats a major performance hog. Also the planes could use sonething like a "light autopilot/ fm/Systems" for cruising flight and as long as they are not having obvious damage. Once they do get damaged the system can change to full real. In a group of 80 bombers its likely that 2/3rd get out unharmed or that the amount of damaged planes at a time will not be that high. 3
