von_Tom Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Has anyone played with monitor brightness in conjunction with gamma settings? I have gamma at 1.2 to brighten the VR experience and get colours that appear more lifelike to me, but this probably has a negative trade-off for spotting, I'm wondering if anyone has gamma at 0.8 for spotting but brightness set higher to improve the look of things. And if so, what their thoughts on this are. von Tome
A_radek Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Tom, Monitor brightness? Where are you tweaking this? Nvidia control something? Sounds like a tweak I want to try. I switch between 0.8 and 1.2 gamma depending on time/weather. On coco's server you get all times of day and I find that especially in low light situations it's very easy to loose a contact against terrain, unless you crank up gamma. 0.8 for mid daylight.
Guest deleted@134347 Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 monitor brightness/gamma/color settings on the VR hdmi port? Wasn't it 'fixed' by nvidia so you can no longer do it? 3dmigoto mod adds some color fix to the vr palette if you want to try it out..

Latest driver it was possible to set it was 385.69 based on my tests I did back then. AFAIK oculus asked nvidia to remove the possibility of this hack. Though I did not try this with any newer drivers since then I would be surprised if this was possible again.
von_Tom_server Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Just curious because what I really want to be able to do is to increase VR brightness but lower gamma so I get the more realistic colour/tone but also the contrast for spotting. If anyone figures out out a way please let me know. von Tom

I use night mode on my VIVE all the time, as I find the colors are too exposed otherwise. Edited April 7, 2018 by Wolf8312
