Hi

Account activated so you should be good to go. Let me know if it doesn’t work.

The full forum is restricted to squadron chaps but feel free to post in the guest bit.

Cheers

Not sure what I'm supposed to do?

Seems I'm locked out of most forums which goes against the grain as I'm 78 years old and have been flying for many, many years!

Yes, I can fly pretty much anything in IL2 Battles, design missions, and run a squad. Even make videos - see here - maybe let me know what's what.

And yes I'm from the UK and have been living in the USA for 43 years. Cheers!

Hi BB-HRD,

until you start the OTU (Operation Training Unit) test flights with us, you are only allowed to post into the guest room (please post though, we like to welcome you). The rest of the forum will become available to you as soon as you have passed OTU (im sure you will). OTU is designed to see if we fit into your expectations and gets you ready for OPS.

One of our chaps will be in touch to arrange the dates for the OTU flights.

Welcome to TP !

Due to start the P51B campaign next Sunday, not too late to join in !

Tangmere Pilots fly each Sunday night at 8:30pm GMT. We usually have between 15 to 25 pilots each Sunday all flying in 1 server and taking part in one mission. We usually split into 2 squadrons or flights. We start engines, taxi out and form up on the runway. Once we get the nod from the C/O / flight leader, we take off and form up into sections and follow the flight plan to the target / escort / fighter sweep area etc...

Each Sunday mission is unique and made by our own mission building team. They are very atmospheric and usually involve a twist or two !

We use Teamspeak and IL2SRS radio for in-squadron communication and fly as a team, helping each other out where required.

Once we have engaged the enemy, those that are left head to home base and follow our landing procedures. Some have to bail out or ditch in the Air Sea Rescue area, some land at alternate airfields. Some don't make it back.

We have a detailed scoring system with medals to be awarded as certain "scores" are reached.

We take things fairly seriously when we are in Sunday Ops but we also have huge amounts of fun on Tuesdays and Friday nights, where things are less serious.

Beginners and experienced pilots are all welcome!

Want to be part of a squadron and fly as a team?

Want to get medals and awards?

Want to meet up in real-life at airshows?

Want to have friends for life?

Want to experience the 1940's in a virtual world?

Want to fly in many varied aircraft (LW, RAF, USAAF) in many different maps and campaigns?

Want to be a flight leader?

Do you want to use your IL2 flight simulator for more than just flying alone in single user campaign mode?

Join Tangmere pilots and experience all the above and more !

Well lads, Tangmere Pilots will begin a new Mustang III campaign in January, replicating the first RAF Mustang III wing (Merlin-powered P-51B/C) in their varied missions over France in March-April, 1944. There will be a variety of missions in our eight-week campaign.  Come join us. Wear RAF blue and impress any girl you meet by telling her "I flew Spits, but now we've got the newest Yank machine, the Mustang."  Then ask her to dance.

Currently, we're mid-campaign flying Bf-109G-6 and Fw-190A-6 in spring, 1944 Crimea against numerous Soviet fighters and attack aircraft. These are short, sharp missions, and strong enemy forces can appear anytime from engine start until we taxi off the runway after landing. Enemy forces on land and sea are attacked by the 190s while we 109s swat away Soviet fighters.

These aren't the heady days of 1940 France or Barbarossa.  The enemy is numerous, better equipped and trained than previously, and out for vengeance. Come fly with us in the dogged effort to hold back the Soviets.

We're on Christmas break until the New Year, but this Sunday we have the annual Tangmere Pilot trivia quiz via Zoom, which involves lots of fun and laughter and a prize and bragging rights for the winner.

There's two more Bf-109G6 (fighter cover) and FW-190A6 (air to mud) missions, so folks got to do the mission they prefer.  I'm a fighter guy, and avoid ground attack, but more of us signed up for ground attack. I put it down to temporary insanity or a death wish.

As described in the previous post, you could join us and be part of TP in time for the RAF Mustang III eight-week campaign in March-April 1944.  We won't be watching our fuel gauges like we did in the Spit and the P-47, and she's fast.  Come join us to fly and fight and break furniture and crockery in local pubs.

I flew military, and TP (during operations) limits radio chatter. It feels like a real squadron, not a chattering bunch of kids.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
