New Oculus Rift prototype with TIR style positional tracking...

I get motion sickness so bad I bet I couldn't last 5 minutes with one OR.  It's a cool idea though.

The first thing I though about though is interaction with the real world (ie, keyboard) while wearing one.  I can't find every button/control on my G940 stick/throttle, Saitek throttle quadrant, keyboard, or touch screens without being able to look at them!

how about incorporating position tracker to the joystick and render it virtually in identical position where the real is?

you could put position tracker in your hands as well and virtually render them in identical position to where your real hands are

Thanks for the "heads up" Valisk! My original OR just became obsolete I guess... :-)

With practice you will be able to find all your rotaries, buttons, on your Hotas system, just as real pilots learned while being blind folded in training.   The OR immersion level should surpass any perceived  problems in that area for most people.  Touch screens,, and for some people who can't type, keyboards could be a problem.   The OR team are looking at solutions, but no word yet if there will be one.   Personally I can find all my inputs, and type without looking on my four piece Hotas system.  I will reinstall a voice activated system for things like pilot communications, and any miscellaneous inputs if I don't have room on my Hota's system.
