So I've read some of the warnings that BoS may no longer be playable with the GTX 780 series GPUs. Is that definitive -- or are some of you out there successfully playing without crashes with a GTX 780 or 780 Ti?

I reinstalled BoS after a pretty long time away from it. I'm very interested in the new career SP mode. I was able to play in the past just fine with my GTX 780 Ti (Windows 7 x64; i7 3770k; 16 GB RAM). But I just tried 2 quick missions, just to try to reacquaint myself with the BF 109, and within 2-3 minutes, the game crashed -- froze in game first time, second time was CTD.

Is it worth troubleshooting this, or is trying to play with a GTX 780 Ti a fool's errand?

Advice much appreciated.

It`s a pity. The GTX 780Ti is an excellent card.

I have not tried these cards, but some reported successes with certain operating system and driver combinations in this thread

I use the GTX 780 and the gameplay works fine...although I use an older driver. The newer drivers caused crashes such as you described. Haven't experimented using newer drivers ( let alone the latest ) after the 3.001 update though.

Appreciate the responses.  Yeah, the 780 Ti is still plenty of GPU for me, as I use a 1080p monitor (albeit G-SYNC / 144 Hz, so a nice performing monitor). 1440p and higher resolutions make print just way too small for my lousy eyes. Love 1080p still, after all this time...

@TRRA15 -- can you tell me what GeForce driver you're using for your 780?  I have 388.13 installed (hardly new, as it came out in Oct. 2017...)

Sandman2575, I'm using the 353.62 drivers.

Whoa - talk about 'rolling back'!  Current divers are 391.35.  I can't find any drivers older than my currently installed 388.13 on the Nvidia drivers webpage.

Thanks for the link.

Guess I'm going to have to weigh the benefit of rolling back to drivers released in July 2015 for the benefit of one game and almost certain detriment to unknown number of others .....

Well I can't remember what driver my 980Ti is on, but doubt it's anything released in the last year or so. Drivers are not something I bother about as long as they work.

As an aside, I know the 780Ti was popular at one point, but it was without a doubt the flakiest card I ever owned.

Huh. My 780Ti has been rock solid 4+ years running. Still a great performer at 1080p, at least for me.

This GTX 780 incompatibility with BoS has me seriously bummed though. Was looking forward to checking out the new career mode.

Can't help on the driver front, never had one. It consistently makes the worst GPU lists though. It fell and fell hard from the top spot to the scrap heap for most. Though to be fair, that applies to the entire GTX 7xx series. I had a 770 2GB and it was great, for about 6 months. I'd had been far better off with a Radeon 290X or even a 380X. The Kepler series has such a bad reputation that's become a bit of a meme: "get Kepler'd."
