Tom_Weiss Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 I am going to remake all my 30 or so DCS Spitfire skins I made recently - this is going to be the first: I reworked the excellent template that released and this is the my base template that I'll use the specular alpha template is still set for a clean template, as I weather it, it will become more matt. 1 3
Tom_Weiss Posted April 5, 2018 Author Posted April 5, 2018 I've tweaked it so that it tones down the reflection while preserving shine and a matt surface 4 1
BOO Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 really looking forward to seeing the fruits of your labour

Again great work, look forward to it Edited April 6, 2018 by Pict
The_Gunfighter Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Yep, really liking what you have done with calming down the "wet". Very realistic looking. thank you for you hard work!
Tom_Weiss Posted April 7, 2018 Author Posted April 7, 2018 base weathering layer added and I set the colors 1
Tom_Weiss Posted April 8, 2018 Author Posted April 8, 2018 Weathering is complete - now I'll add a grey/green camouflage to verify that the camouflage works in other background colors 1

sevenless Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 Do you happen to make also some russian spitfire skins? Those you present here are really great, and I really would love to see some russian spitfires with this love to detail.
Tom_Weiss Posted April 14, 2018 Author Posted April 14, 2018 released half a dozen http://www.lockonfiles.com/ I am going to make some Russian as well 1
Winglesschip209 Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Nice skins on the spitfire their great but i found a little bug the bullseye is a little off center on one of the skins and i think on the early spitfires the under carage was the same color as the cockpit not that zink color
Tom_Weiss Posted April 16, 2018 Author Posted April 16, 2018 thanks for the heads up - I've updated both skins Quote under carage was the same color as the cockpit not that zink color I based mine on the A2A Spitfire color scheme .

It's been a long time since I did that template for A2A, I don't remember doing Zinc coloured undercarraige. In service Spitfire wheel wells and UC tended to be painted whatever the underside colour was. So sky, light grey, or black and white (early Mk Is) for example. Though there is some evidence interior parts were meant to be painted aluminium, the confusion stems from the fact there are period photos showing the UC and wheel wells were painted the same as the underside. 1
Tom_Weiss Posted April 16, 2018 Author Posted April 16, 2018 I hope you make more templates - top notch work
