Spit Kuban Career - odd mission assignments

I have been flying a Spitfire Career in Kuban for a while now, well since 3.001 dropped.

Occasionally I have noticed some odd mission assignments.

 

This last mission I flew, was my flight of 4 Spits assigned to destroy a bridgehead across the river.  On the way there, we met a flight of Yak-1 Series 69 who accompanied us to the target area. I thought great they will drop some bombs on that bridgehead. Nope, apparently they were only flying cover. I layed all my cannon rounds on that bridgehead with no affect, not sure what my wingmen did. Eventually some 109's showed up to harass us, all I had left was machine guns and was already damaged so high tailed it home and of course failed the main mission objective.

 

Not sure the Spitfire is an ideal plane to send on a mission such as this, at least to do the destroying part of the mission.

Luckily have not had too many missions like this assigned.

You dare question the decisions of your superiors?

Your sacred duty to resist should suffice already, but our generous nation trusted you with a Spitfire on top of that! And yet you fail.

Vodka is a luxury we have. Caviar is a luxury we have. Dedicated aircraft type for each mission is not!

 

We will overlook this betrayal of our glorious people. For now.

You will go back out there and finish what you started. You will not fail. And you will... how do I put this... never question your superiors again!

Especially not when you'll be volunteered for such a mission next time. Dismissed!

Your duty would have been to crash your Spit into the bridge to destroy it. Your virtual life counts nothing, your duty everything.

Lol, well next mission was a soft target one, I handled them ok with cannons and accomplished this one - so there!

I think the mission still counts as successful if you attack the vehicles around the bridge, so treat it as more of a harassment mission and destroy the trucks etc, rather than strafing the pontoon bridge itself.

Of course your goal is to drag enemy 109s into the bridge while they chase you.
