Game not starting

Ok got a weird problem here. 
IL2 WILL NOT run at all via the play button in steam. Same goes if i choose to run it in VR mode. A blank icon appears on the taskbar but thats it.

If i go to where IL2 is installed and run the IL2.exe from the folder it runs fine. Same for VR where it opens Steam VR and a way i go.

This has not happened before and although i can run it via the folder .exe it annoys me that it wont run via the steam library.

I'm running Win10

Any help please.
