Wolfram-Harms Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 (edited) Just found this website with many military reconaissance photos. The images are quite small, but still give us an idea of how it looked. Not sure if "Tumrak" and "Gumrak" are the same airfields - does anyone know? http://www.wwii-photos-maps.com/aerialphotosstalingrad/Stalingrad/index.html Edited April 3, 2018 by Wolfram-Harms 2
CrazyDuck Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Yes, on the photo above it's Gumrak (nowadays Volgograd International Airport). No clue why did Germans write it with T. Perhaps due to similarity between the letter G in cyrillic (Г) and letter T in latin.
JtD Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 There's also a load available at the bundesarchiv. I once compiled a series of images of a He 111 (?) recon flight of the Volga river into a single image. It's interesting what's available from the German side alone. 3
