Yogiflight Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 In my Ju87 career it happened, that a fighter was flying into our formation on our way back, and as my squadmates, who were flying ahead of me, were waving from side to side, like they do when they are under fighter attack, I started shooting at the fighter and damaged his water radiant and fuel tank. He didn't n make it back, so I had a friendly kill. In the next mission, after I had started, I noticed my engine was smoking, it blew thick black smoke into the air, so I had to return and land again. So was this a punish for my friendly fire? 1
Dakpilot Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 If it was your departed Squadron mates mechanic sabotaging your engine as revenge then the 'campaign/career' is more in depth than I thought Cheers, Dakpilot 1 1
seafireliv Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 I was wondering what happened if you shot a friendly recently. I know in previous sims like EAW, they`d all turn on you and shoot you down.
Fritz_X Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Be glad this is WW2 and not the mighty universe of Microsoft's 'Starlancer', where in case of killing a friendly things went rather... drastic.
Lensman Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 You should try it in Elite-Dangerous. Try accidentally shooting a space-station and enjoy the interesting (and expensive) experience thereafter ... 1 1

Just bump into something or land on the wrong pad and it`s instant death! 1

Or get stuck with Anaconda to the hatch and watch your timer run out while panic starts to kick in.

Unless something has changed since I last played ED, you could get blown apart just for taking too long to dock or to exit the station! It was funny sometimes to see a bunch of AI ships get themselves log-jammed and unable to move then a minute later the station is full of swirling debris :-) You also get summarily executed for going too fast. Do I remember a game where any friendly fire was applied to your own aircraft? (or spaceship?) On the one hand that sounds really fair but on the other hand I seem to remember griefers took to deliberately flying through your bullet stream just to laugh at you shooting yourself down. It would not be very authentic anyway as in real life you just had to deal with the shame.

Last I looked it still does that. I remember the first time I carefully made my way through the dock opening and the base was screaming at me to get a move on or die!
migmadmarine Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 You get like 5 minutes to get out of the letter box, how can you take too long?

Maybe they`ve changed it then. I was going through in like a 10 second period and I had warnings screaming at me. I mean come on, man, even i`m too impatient to take 5 minutes!! SharpeXB Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 What would be good is if the game sent you to close arrest for a few days or something.

I liked that about it. You didn't get those situations where lots of people were really pissed off in multiplayer--everybody knew the damage would be applied to themselves, so they took care.

seafireliv Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 From what I`ve read in the latest patch you`ll be shot now if you shoot friendly aircraft.

There must be leeway because I accidentally put heavy fire into one of my ju 88 sheep (a mig 3 target was right behind it and it got confusing) and when I closed the mission I had a 'friendly fire' message on the screen but nonetheless proceeded to the next mission with no obvious penalty.

Interesting. Not had a chance to see what happens on friendly fire. I suspect shooting a max of two aircraft down (ie actually destroying aircaft) will result in being punished, I will test as soon as I get a chance. Edited May 11, 2018 by seafireliv
hames123 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 I once got a Ju 88 to down another one in the campaign mission generator. I was out of ammo and going for a ram, when the front Ju 88 fired wide and the 2nd lurched out of formation and dived right towards the ground. The gunner in the lead plane had killed the pilot in the 2nd.
