=FEW=Hauggy Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 Hey has anyone got a solution for shimmering? I tried all sorts of different settings and antialiasing solutions in the course of a few years and nothing seems to work, wether I'm close or far and event in the cockpit I got a bunch of moving pixels that ruin my visual experience. I tried ATAG lewis nvidia settings recently, still the same. I'm out of solutions can anyone help me please? 1
BOO Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 Hello Hauggy I cant give you a magic bullet but I can save you a lot of time. AA is Blitz can ONLY be enabled from the in game AA settings - This is a form of MSAA and is either on or off - so picking any setting other than "Off" has the same effect whether its 2 or 8. There is no differentiation to the levels. In terms of the Nvidia control panel only the FXAA works but this can make the image to blurry for spotting. No other AA works. Period. Despite what many many "best settings" say it simply doesn't. MFAA doesn't work either (the game isn't able to use it) nor does Multisampling or super-sampling. The settings posted in the ATAG post you refer to are just plain wrong. This was pointed out by a few of us at the time but they remain on a prominent post it seems. There is possibly a little more that you can do with the FXAA in reshade but nothing will have such a great an effect that it will get rid of all the aliased lines. The only way to further improve the jaggles is to perhaps adjust the sharpness on your monitor (especially if the "monitor" is a TV or to up the resolution either using those your monitor is capable of producing or through the less attractive alternative of DSR. Anisotropic filtering may help a little but in my experience no enough to make any real difference. I do get what you are saying about the aliasing, It seems to still affect the distant rivers and such but overall, I think 4.5 really helped to calm it in terms of the landscape. The cockpit framing, especially on the 109 can be a little distracting at resolutions of 1080P and lower though, but I always found that I could quickly forget it once my head was in the game. Whilst not perfect I don't find it any more annoying than the aliasing I experience in the base of distant clouds in BOX TBH. Cheers BOO 1
=FEW=Hauggy Posted April 2, 2018 Author Posted April 2, 2018 (edited) Alright thanks I activated AA in game, then used FXAA and then used DSR and this did the trick I can't see any shimmering now. I honestly don't care too much about spotting I can deal with that, I want my game to look nice and sharp, same deal with il-2 BoX I4m not here to do a plane shooting contest I'm here to have fun and feel immersed in flawless graphics first and foremost, also I find that I can track movement easyer without thousands of pixels moving around. I can't believe I never thought about this! Edited April 2, 2018 by =FEW=Hauggy 1
