Is this problem still an issue in IL-2 with WMR headsets?

Asking because I'm jumping ship from a Rift S to a Reverb G2 next month.

Same here, I expect that it'll get fixed if it hasn't yet, so many people getting the G2, they'll get a shitstorm if they don't haha

I have been using a HP Reverb headset for one year without any problem (before I had a Levono Explorer, no issues).

Don't worry about G2 Reverb, that is the best headset to play flight sims and wmr is well supported in this game.

Very probable.

Most new headsets have had this issue in IL-2, especially those with brandnew dimensions, until they were put in manually. Usually all information on a headset gets handed over automatically by SteamVR/OpenVR's API, and they wouldn't need to have the headsets in their Offices in Moscow bar one or two to find global bugs.

The Reverb G2 has new dimensions. It depends on problematic implementation of IL-2 of the viewpoint matrices handed over by the API. I wish they went opensource with these sections.

In best case, it works out of the box and you'll just use the ingame function to change IPD to adjust soft scaling issues. In the worst case, you'll get a funny feeling, no presence, a bit of a headache or eye-strain after a while, especially while zooming. But in any case, it will be kind of useable, even if not perfect. I got an HP Reverb G2 on day 1 pre-order as well and will report anything off with it to the bug sections as soon as it's here.

I hope the Devs will revisit and fix the underlying issues behind it one day.

Well, hopefully only a few more weeks of waiting until the G2's ship in Europe.

Even though the Rift has been a great headset for IL-2, DCS, Elite D etc, I'm really looking forwards to having both better visuals and audio.

I added my own Koss speaker units after I realsied just how bad the Rift audio was, they're not pretty but they work well certainly as good as my CV1.

No scaling issues with the G2 in IL-2 btw. Looks exactly like the Rift S scale-wise.
