Would it ever be possible to have the Career mode work OFFLINE?

I think the career is great and I`ve made no bones about great I think it is, but I don`t like being stuck online all the while when flying in Single Player, I would like to do so without always needing to be online. It uses needless resources of my pc in the background (antivirus etc)... Also, lose the net your sim is dead. It`s a weak link. I expect to go online only if I`m playing Multi-Player.

I have heard some say that the Online aspect enables the sim to access info for the Campaign career generation, that maybe be the case, but we know that all this could be done `ingame` and enabled for Offline. And let`s be honest, it`s a further tracking DRM, right.

I know I`m old-fashioned and probably most here likely stay Online forever, but this is just my request which will likely be ignored.

I too, would like to have the career mode offline. My internet connection is terrible, and not guaranteed, so I would rather stick to the offline mode when possible. Unfortunately the campaign mission generator seems to be located at a central server.

would it be possible ? probably, but I would imagine it would involve a significant re-write of the code.

When you consider, that all of our game clients contain everything regardless of which packages we buy in terms of maps and planes, then playing online also helps to ensure that we fly the birds we own.

Pretty much all of my games are digital downloads these days, its just the direction the world seems to be moving.

The only technical reason I can think of to have an online connection for the career...My personal speculation is that they plan to make it possible to have co-op careers with buddies, and hence the necessity to save outcomes on a central server. But that´s just my personal speculation, so take it with a grain of salt.

Has nothing to do with it but rather that missions are generated server-side. ROF's career is set up the same way.

Also the fact that missions are generated server side means they can be tweaked/updated by Dev's without need for releasing a patch for every change/addition

It may seem a minor point but a very important one

Thanks for clarifying. Makes sense to me and offers the ability to introduce additions and changes without publishing patches to endusers.

Yeah as online is apparently at the core of the new Career I imagine that would be difficult. Wasn't the original campaign online as well?

For strictly offline SP action, PWCG would be an option as it can be run offline.

You can fly QMB offline, so you don't need a connection to the masterserver for this reason as the game knows which aircrafts you own.

That would be so awesome ...

I would recommend PWCG if your internet comnection is poor, or if you simply prefer having an offline option. I also think it’s more flexible.

But, as it is a free third-party product, it isn’t as polished and isn’t integrated into the game.

I see. I understand that logic of you all, though I see it as not beneficial to the User in the long run... I like games I know I can play if the net quits or if I lose it. I just never feel comfortable relying on the net.... Maybe it comes from my poor background where we don`t like relying on weak links to do anything; ;links that can be whipped away at any moment. Now I`m getting psychological! The Devs made an excellent Career mode which I whined for, for a long time ( I was reduced to making die rolls to choose missions), so at least we have that.

Does it work with 3.001 ? Would like to have a look and try it out. The more options the merrier.

Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator (PWCG) is quite similar to the original CARREER campaigns, and can be flown offline.

You know I like to play TheHunter Call of the Wild ... Very realistic. A kind of IL2 BOS except you`re not in WW2, and there are no planes, or soldiers, no human aggro either there or on the forums, just in the fields, hunting dynamic animals, with guns, lots of guns, over vast beautiful countryside with methodical patience... It`s quite peaceful, except for the odd bang.

That let`s you play Offline.;)
