Question: Is it posible to change the level of a career already started?

Difficulty? Yes.

This is why I play with icons on most of the time. It simulates a level of situational awareness that an actual pilot would have (hopefully) had to a greater degree than not having them. This is probably less true for people who are just better at the game though...

With ICONS on, you can trace friend and foe too easily, cause you even see ICONS or ARROWS, when they are behind you, out of your pilot's true sight.

BUT - I think everyone should play it as he/she likes to, at least in the beginning.
Once you get better and better, you may decide anyway one day, to switch all aids off.

You will learn to fly more and more tactical and safety-regarding, and once you know how to keep your pilot most safe - you may switch it all off.

PS: with view/eye problems you should happily use them anyway, if it makes BoSsing for you only then, Raptor.

Yeah. I DEFINITELY want to get into using without but it becomes nigh on impossible at times and then I end up turning them back on again! I'll definitely try a Career without though and just use the map for nav. I aint too bad at that (being old and remembering what 'maps' are!) and I actually quite enjoy that. I see what you mean about eventually turning them all off though. I look forward to it. I guess that would be more viable in MP I imagine, where you at least have guys around you to give heads-ups?

The ability to communicate dynamically with your teammates in multiplayer is one of the biggest things it seems to have going for it.

Yes, I agree - it can be big fun flying in a team with 2, 3 or more players.
OTOH I must warn you: those online flyers are mostly all kinda "Manfred von Hartmann Zombies",

who know exactly wich bolt to shoot off your plane to destroy it with one round!

I bet, if the real life aces had met that bunch, they would have been as desperate as anybody else...!

So, finished some flying for the VVS career and this is my feedback so far.

-Trying to fly in Expert Mode without icons is in my opinion quite useless, because while it gives you the nice feeling of getting home with a kill and being happy, there are way to many AIs who always know your and the position of the planes you escort. So you can't sneak out after a kill because you leave your squad to die.

An expert lite mode would be cool, with plane icons, but without arrows and distance, so you still have to scan your surroundings.

-You should have an overview over enemy pilots, so when you kill a good one, you feel great.

This sin't a bug. You won't always have any enemy opposing you as it was in reality.

Well it is in many cases..

Usually AI planes turn up on target "late" when your side squadrons are returning to base.

And they will not return back even when enemy is spotted but AI has waypoint back to base.

So you have two options you turn back and face them alone or return to base with them and get reports that your ground units are being destroyed.

If you are flight leader you can prolong until they arrive "late" and face them with your own squadron.

If the mission has two flights protecting the target when this happens your other AI flight is heading home while you or your flight fight them back.

( Depends if you are flight leader or not )

Most cases its a mission design flaw and it happens alot.
