Emgy Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 The current state of spotting contacts, are you satisfied or not? Copied from Russian forum (and amended).
6S.Manu Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Voted 6-8km, but the range should change with target size (at least). 4-6 for fighters, 10-12 for bombers. 1
SKG51_robtek Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Voted 6-8km, but the range should change with target size (at least). 4-6 for fighters, 10-12 for bombers. My opinion too.
Crow Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Voted 12-14km, but the reality is it should be even further. The biggest aircraft in the game currently (He-111) should be able to be spotted at over 18 km with the naked eye. See the back of the envelope calculations I did here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/1291-draw-distance-discussion/?do=findComment&comment=26672 1
Fifi Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Good poll Voted 6-8 Km according to the last testimony i readed of an average + fighter pilot, but Manu is right saying it should change according to plane size. If fighters are visible in clear weather at 6-8 Km, bombers should be at 10 Km at least IMO. 2

If fighters are visible in clear weather at 6-8 Km, bombers should be at 10 Km at least IMO. Exactly. +1
arjisme Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Voted 6-8km, but the range should change with target size (at least). 4-6 for fighters, 10-12 for bombers. It should also change with weather conditions.

6S.Manu Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 It should also change with weather conditions. Yep. From page 9: http://www.scribd.com/doc/83007395/Visual-Search-in-Air-Combat Plus: 1
GOZR Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 You can see quite far in RL so since we will and are using more monitor with higher resolution I would prefer to be able to see the dots far with some glance of reflections that attract your eyes like in real . Problem in for example IL2 or DCS is higher resolution and your starting to get blind.. and this shouldn't be .. Higher resolution should be bigger and lower well lower. This is and was a big problem for a long time and still is.
Volkoff Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I really like the current state of contact visability and I would be happy if visability ranges remain as is. MJ
LG1.Farber Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Take it these are RoF settings... Rather than IL2...
Foobar Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Not hidden but closed. Visibility of contacts has been improved and most are satisfied, so no need further poll and discussion.
