Average Flights per Day?

Quick question to those of you in the know.

Depending on what side you were on, and what kind of tasking you could expect (air superiority, ground attack, etc.), how many missions could the average pilot expect? IE, would a Luftwaffe fighter pilot fly twice a day, while a Soviet IL-2 driver fly three or four sorties in 24 hours?

Thanks!

From my rather small amount of expertise of the air war... the answer is pretty complex. And you would need to be more specific, ie what unit and time frame.

Based on what I've worked on for the IL-2 community, I know that 3-4 sorties a day was normal for a 110 pilot from ZG 26 during BoM time frame.

I also looked into StG 2 a lot for my Stuka campaign. During certain periods of the BoS they flew as long as daylight would permit! I mean it got rather nuts, like sometimes 10 sorties in a day for example!

I've been mulling over the idea of a KG 55 campaign for awhile. So I've been looking at this KG 55 flight book. If you look it is common they (He 111 pilots) flew 3-4 sorties a day, especially after they relocated to their closest AF of operations relative to Stalingrad. Of course some days are only 1 sortie. And there are days of rest for the whole group with no sortie.

Looking up flight logs is your best bet, original source material always is. If that can't be found than hopefully some well-read expert on the forums here can help you. And trust me, I get more information on here about the details of the air war than the "big" ww2 history forums online which typically result in *cricket noises*

Just be as specific as possible, because there are a gazillion variables.:salute:

Ah, I see. It was more of a broad question in regards to the new career mode. I haven't had a chance to try it yet (tomorrow...), but back in Rise of Flight I would fly maybe a sortie a day, and that felt like a really low bar.

Let's say I'm a Bf. 109 pilot back in the Battle of Stalingrad. How many flights could I expect to do in an average day?

10 sorties in one day, sounds legit to me. I do the same and sometimes more a day hehe.

Ah, I figured as much, but ya never know...

So, wait, that's 10 sorties period a day, as in you fly 10 missions before turning the game off, or that's in you can fly 10 missions per in-game day in the career mode?

Because if so, I'm hyped.

You posted in the History section. Everything I stated was in reference to real life......

Just 10 sorties before closing the game. That could be 3-4 days ingame. The most sorties in a day i had was 4 as a german fighterpilot. 2 escort, 1 ground attack and 1 interecept mission. Interecept missions can happen any time in a day i think. They will just pop up some times.

I know, sorry, got a bit off track.

Ah, alright. Pity that they can't cram things in in a day.

To return to the original topic, I wonder who had the most amount of sorties during the Battle of Stalingrad...
