would it be possible to get smoke grenades for the tanks?

Topic header pretty much says it all.

 

Would it be possible to equip the tanks (or maybe just even one tank)  with say, no more then  5 smoke grenades (colour to be determined)?

In this way, you would be able to use a single tank as FAC....

Interesting idea. 

Some German tanks with 75mm and 8mm gun where equipped with smoke shells also. Most American tanks had smoke shells. I don't think most Russian tanks where issued them.

Then there are Nahverteidigungswaffe and the late war smoke pots.

I'm not aware of any exhaust smoke systems.

 

The Germans certainly had flare guns and smoke grenades would not be out of the question.

 

The Germans did use radio for FAC. I don't know about signal lamps.

 

Edit: Oh, and semaphore. The soviets used semaphore from tanks for communication.

considering the multiplayer in this game the idea itsself is actually quite simple.

 

Consider you have 4 players in tanks. These players run into opposition that they can't outmaneuver or outgun, which in itsself is a good reason for calling in airsupport. In this only one tank is equipped with smoke grenades. The commander of this tank can now designate the area that has to be attacked with a smoke grenade.

 

This is the part where it gets a little ahistorical though. Since we dont have any kind of vehicle that we can assign to the ground support role (yet) it boils down to it that the tank commander is basically in contact with the air element via the usual voice comms software (think TS for example) allowing him to guide a strike package towards the target he just marked with a smoke grenade...

I prefer to get low and slow and than open my canopy, than fire a flare. 

 

Than when the enemy sees my flare, that I am low and slow over a target, they can come in and shoot me down.

 

THAN...

 

I can come complain about the flight models and how the Dev's favor either side A or B.
