Where are the Stukas/Bf110/He111?

Played with my La-5 in the skyes over Stalingrad. So far I´ve survived till late November with 7h of flight time.

 

The Air battles are brutal because....of the sheer amount of Bf-109ers in all variants. I didn´t see anything else. Has Goering made a secret order to retreat all other planes? Must we rewrite the history?

 

I have 4 mission types:

Protect own Bombers- get attacked by hordes of Bf-109

Protect own fighter bombers- get attacked by hordes of Bf-109

Protect own ground troops- get attacked by hordes of Bf-109

Engage enemy fighter bombers-get attacked by almost double time hordes of Bf-109

 

So,I didn´t encounter any Stukas,Bf-110,He-111,Ju-88´s. Only an endless stream of angry Messerschmitt´s.

 

Is this a possible bug?

That sounds odd.

 

I've just started a P-40E career over Stalingrad (starting in late August) and I've seen Bf109s and Ju87s so far and I'm only three missions in. The Stukas light up just fine with 6x .50cals going but the Bf109s are tough to chase naturally.

What are the settings for your career? Density, difficulty, etc.?

You'll get them on bomber intercept missions.  Keep at it.

I had a similar issue with my first career as a MiG pilot at Moscow. It took 19 missions before I got my first bomber intercept. But it turned out to just be bad luck. I’ve started getting plenty of intercept missions in all my (fighter) careers now.

I haven`t done Stalingrad yet, still on the first Campaign. On my very first mission met a bunch of bomber He 111s. Then I got captured after bailing.

 

On subseqeunt missions since have not seen any He111s, not even a Stuka, but I suspect there`s a dynamic war going on. They may be there, but just not where you are- or they`ve simply not had the roll of the dice to appear yet.

 

Or it`s a bug, but I hate assuming everything is a bug until proven to be.

The breakdowns do seem a little odd at times, do think they could do a little better with the  probablities of encountering different types. In my P-39 career in Kuban, over 31 flights I've gotten maybe 5 bomber intercepts (which have always been Ju-87s), maybe around 10 ground attack plane intercepts (always 190s) and while I have seen Hs-129s and He-111s in the wild, i've yet to see a Ju-88 or PE-2, Russian bombers be them the ones we escort or just in the environment are always A-20s. Also, the mission generator for the career doesn't seem to generate any mixed flights (Il-2 flights will always be ALL 1942s or ALL 1943s, never a mix, and He-111 flights will all be H6 or H16, despite the fact that players in this squadron will have mixed flights themselves.)

I find that in my escort missions there is usually a flight of enemy bombers or ground attackers going the other way trying to seduce you away from your duties. A couple of times my flight leader engaged them but most of the time not.

In other careers I've seen quite a mix of aircraft. FW190s on jabo missions with Bf109 for escort. Hs129s with Bf109 escort. Ju88s with no escort. There's a fair bit of variety so far... A lot of Bf109s but as I said in another thread, the Bf109 is going to be spotted everywhere as its the primary fighter of the Luftwaffe. Especially in the East.

Certainly in BOM I've escorted Ju88, He111 and Ju87 bombing formations. I presume that means they would be present were I playing red.

My experience doing a Spitfire campaign in Kuban was I intercepted a flight of 7-8 Stukas my third mission. They light up real good. But I have also read several posts like yours.

Finally, I had my first Bomber intercept mission! 3 poor La-5´s vs 9-12 Stukas & the escort(s). It ended in a giant furball with friendly Yaks & I-16´s over the Wolga and a massacre...but not so much for the Stukas ^^

 

I dont know how exactly the career generator with the mission templates works in the background, but his developers deserves a Vodka on the rocks. IMHO the missions come very close to the desperation the red air force must had in this period. From day one,we are outnumberd by the Luftwaffe,and with every futher day it gets even worse. My unit face heavy losses and I´m happy if we get 4 Planes in the air...

The situation is really brutal. The germans outnumberd us by 3:1 and every flight west of the river is a  potential suicide commando. My Mig-3 career over Moscow is like holydays,compared to the skyes over Stalingrad.

 

I fly for the 27th IAP at Srednaya Akhtuba, now with 8h flight time. 16 Air Victorys and 4 Trucks destroyed. I got 2 crash landings short behind own lines and one time I have to leave my burning Plane. The fact that I´m still alive is more luck than skill.

 

Career settings are Iron Man on, realistic progress,the rest is on medium.HUD is completely off, as always.

 

I must say, with the time I really enjoy this new career system

Nice. I was on Moscow. Took down 2 109s in a furball, was feeling pleased, seemed easy - then got jumped by a 109 at low altitude, hit hard, couldn`t recover- BOOM!

Sounds like bad carma... nahh,seriously its all about situational awareness. Once you get the hang on it how the AI works, it´s quite easy to deal with it. In some points, the AI acts a bit better with the actual patch. So,now you have to check your 6 even more. Most of the time I have my hands full to save the butts of my AI commrads than to concentrate on the mission goals itself.

I’m flying the Mosscow campaign at the moment and have progressed to January 42.  All I have seen so far are 109E and F models, with He-111s on two occasions.  Oh, and a lot of Macchi 202’s.

So far, He-111's right on the kick off, bomber intercept. On follow up to cover ground against attackers, majority were 109's fighter bombers. Escorting the Peshkas they got jumped by 110's interceptors with 109 F's for fighter cover.

 

Seems the experiences of everyone are of the widest variety.

I'd like a free flight career mission...

That is to say a mission where you can start with any machine without any objectives and roam around in a map with a lot of "life" to search fighters, bombers, ground forces, factory.

I have had mixed aircraft flights in a 109 squadron. We flew a 4 ship on bomber escort with 3xG-4s and 1xG-2, so mixed flights are possible.

Right, I have since gotten an intercept on He-111s and on a recon Ju-88 since this post, so it's as though the game heard me and saw fit to prove me wrong.

Just came across some He111s trying to sneak by while tackling 109s. I was like, "BOMBERS!" I`d not seen them for ages.

 

Attacked and heavily smoked one before I lost them in cloud. But later back at base got the news that the bomber had been destroyed. Huzzah!

I have only seen 109s in my first mission, but a HS 129 got downed by ground fire so they are definately there.

Every hs 129 I saw got shot down by AAA. Survival rate of 0%
