Art-J Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Putting the article aside, is that an awesome webiste or what? It auto-resizes all high-res photos to match the width of the screen. I'm browsing it now, taking screens to be converted later to wallpapers for my brand new 32" monitor, as finding good quality warbird wallpapers in 1440p is otherwise difficult. Ultimate kid in a candystore experience .
Warpig Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 What a beautiful set of pictures featured in the article. Makes me want to leave work and hop on IL-2 to fly one. 1
[CPT]Pike*HarryM Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Yeah, I did a view source and grabbed those babies to make a new desktop theme. I have a similar one for the Il-2
-TBC-AeroAce Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Very interesting. I like the details about putting more pressure in one of the gear legs to help on take off. Also how good pilots would use manual prop pitch to get the most out of the plane (a practice that right or wrong, most players believe does not bring any in game benifit). Lol at the pilot that could not keep up because he was using auto prop pitch and was ordered to rtb. I wonder if it saved his life.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) One of the comments on the article is that the 109E taxies along with no problem with symmetrical loads on both gears... Nothing like we have in BoX where every 109 requires permanent right rudder, even with the tailwheel locked, due to the ( I believe ) overdone torque / propwash effects. Then, even with the tailwheel unlocked, give it full power, and right rudder will bring you to an uneventful takeoff :-/ Edited March 27, 2018 by jcomm-in-combat typo
56RAF_Roblex Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Its funny how we read things differently. All the 109s fans are seeing this as confirmation that the 109 is too difficult in-game because the article says that an expert pilot can take off and land without issues and make it turn as well as a spitfire while I look at it and see it as confirmation that the 109 is too easy in-game because the article says you had to be very skilled to handle it :-) Every time I fly the 109 I feel unclean because it is so easy to fly that I feel like I am cheating and I scuttle back to the VVS. This was a plane that killed a large percentage of trainee pilots and quite a few experienced pilots just trying to land it yet the in-game version is one of the easiest planes in the whole game to land. Come on Jason, let's model those slats coming out unexpectedly with a thump and sometimes coming out one at a time while you are already struggling on the edge of a stall :-) I remember in CLoD after getting shot up you sometimes had only one flap come down while you were low and slow on finals and your life used to flash before your eyes :-D 3 1

I don't feel a 109 is any easier or harder to fly than a Yak for example. No reason to be so mad at an airplane... lol 1
-TBC-AeroAce Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) I feel like the aircraft in game are a bit too easy to handle on the ground. The 109 is the only one I personally know for sure should be harder to handle because of real life sources such as the op's. I'm sure similar things apply to other aircraft as well. Or am I remembering it wrong? That has happened before, so entirely possible,
seafireliv Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 They are certainly beautiful pictures... Can`t quite tell if real or some kind of CGI.
