Where are all the aces?

I've yet to come up against anything other than a Novice AI. I thought I'd read somewhere (can't find it now) that there is a mix of AI skill levels. At what point do Aces appear?

They must all be on my game because I cant hit anything but they can hit me!

Usually, first to spawn are novices.

After reaching other waypoints and killing few, your AI mate will spawn and take off. Then next ennemy to spawn is usually an ace here.

Last time, i couldn't even approach him, as my AI mate got him at first frontal pass

Yeah, I want to bring that AI wingie into multiplayer with me. He's Dick-dead-eye!

It's random and I think the chances are low. I saw them occasionally (single plane spawn, never the first wave) a couple weeks ago. I haven't done the DF missions this test period. The only difference I could tell is the "ace" AI was more aggressive, even when they shouldn't be. The LaGG-3 "ace" was more challenging than the novice. The Bf-109 "ace" was actually far easier to kill since he'd blow all his energy instantly in a crazy turn and then just wallow around till I killed him.

I've been passed the stage where the friendly spawns many times. Our record is 7 kills at which point I'm out of ammo, but I still only encounter Novices.

They are there !! my first encounter, novice,novice,ace and then a pair of novices, my wing man got one of the pair and I surprised myself by downing the rest [" Scouts honour"]

I occasionally run across an Ace AI in the dogfight missions as well, usually around the 4th or 5th to spawn.

Typical! First mission after posting this new thread I encounter my first Ace (3rd spawn). Definately more difficult to shoot down but not impossible.
