ACG_Invictus Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 (edited) Nice little dogfight with a Yak1B while flying the 109E7 on Wings of Liberty....Enjoy! Edited June 17, 2018 by ATAG_Invictus 2 3
Haza Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Ever the trust worthy E-7! I'm beginning to think the first line of defence with VVS aircraft, is flaps!! Nice fight and some nice moves! 1
Luger1969 Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Great to have the rapier/surgical fighter back. With the ammo load out it has to be that way.
=EXPEND=CG_Justin Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Well played sir! He was using every trick play and Hail Mary in the book, but not even his flaps could save him. Well played indeed!
56RAF_Roblex Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 (edited) It was very decent of you to throw away all the E advantage you had at the start of the fight to make it more even. It was even more decent of him to see that now he had a lot more E than you and to throw away his E too Edited April 3, 2018 by 56RAF_Roblex
ACG_Invictus Posted April 3, 2018 Author Posted April 3, 2018 E advantage? The fight started essentially co-E. I had a slight altitude advantage, but given the power and speed difference between the two planes that doesn't count for much. The E7's strength is the low speed turnfight, and to be honest when I fly one that's what I am looking for. If I wanted to energy fight I would have taken the F4. But you are correct that he threw away his advantages, which I find is common for Red pilots who start mixing it up with an E7 only to realize too late that's exactly what the E7 pilot wants. 18 hours ago, CG_Justin said: Well played sir! JG27*Kornezov Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 (edited) Well played S!. However even a regular Yak had to win easily this fight. He just had to keep nose to tail geometry right turn and to use some oblique turns. Very soon the Emil will have no energy and the fight will be over. What I really like to do is to invite into this kind of a fight the 109 by relaxing a bit and making the 109 believe he can win. Only when he is committed I would maximize my turning without dropping below 300 km/h. Since the last patch the flaps for yaks are not really worth it. However the pitch is very sensible on the yaks and very few people have the right touch/and the nerves/ to maintain corner speed. One more thing if the turn is going downwards the 109 can use the gravity assist to compensate for the energy loss. Edited April 4, 2018 by JG27_Kornezov

But most Yak pilots don't realize these points (or do but forget them when their fangs come out) and overcommit to pure turn fight....then I know I have them. 2 hours ago, JG27_Kornezov said: One more thing if the turn is going downwards the 109 can use the gravity assist to compensate for the energy loss. Bingo.
