Original_Uwe Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 (edited) P-40's of the 154th IAP http://www.mediafire.com/file/a1me7wi6ezkdk2s/154+IAP+P-40+4+pack.7z Dusting off P.S. and decided to paint some P-40s. These are my first VVS skins so if I made a mistake please feel free to let me know so I can correct it ASAP. This pack contains 4 skins of the 154 IAP's P-40s. Includes: P-40E "White 79" of Capt. N.A.Zelenov, deputy squadron commander of 154 IAP (later 29 GIAP), Leningrad front, summer 1942. *I've seen this aircraft described as having the british-type camouflage of the other P-40s in this pack, but also as having been solid O.D. green. Proof one way or the other and I can change it if needed. P-40E "White 50" of Maj. P.A. Pokryshev ,154th IAP, in Leningrad area, 1942. P-40E "White 65" of the commander of the 154th IAP, A.A. Matveyev, in Leningrad area, 1942. P-40E "White 73" -Pilot Unknown, but also of 154th IAP in/around Leningrad 1942. http://www.mediafire.com/file/a1me7wi6ezkdk2s/154+IAP+P-40+4+pack.7z Edited April 30, 2018 by 1./JG54_Uwe Adding content... 3 1
Original_Uwe Posted March 26, 2018 Author Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) New P-40 Skins for 20 GIAP P-40E-1 "White 51" of 20 GIAP, 14th Army, based at Murmashi airfield near Murmansk, flown by Jr. Lt. A. V. Pshenev. http://www.mediafire.com/file/9o13mjeh3d15dmo/P-40E-1+White+50+20+GIAP.7z Another 20 GIAP P-40E, "White 70" piloted (probably) by Georgi V. Gromov 20 GIAP "Plane n.70 was used as a background for many photos of pilots of 20 GvIAP in Murmashi airport in Karelia; Capt. Georgi V.Gromov, thought to be the pilot of this plane, is the one on the right. He was the commander of 2nd Eskadrilya. The unit was equipped with P-40s at the beginning of 1942, that were replaced by P-39s at the end of the year. He reached 18 victories at the end of the war. 15 victories reported on this photo seem too many for 1942; possibly they were painted for propaganda purposes. The plane in the photos below is thought to be the same plane." http://www.mediafire.com/file/peijd15znlvlid4/P40E+White+70+Georgi+V.+Gromov+20+GIAP.7z Edited April 30, 2018 by 1./JG54_Uwe 1
Original_Uwe Posted April 30, 2018 Author Posted April 30, 2018 Curtiss P-40 E white 10 of Lt. Col. Boris Safonov, 2 GIAP VVS SF "The early P-40E 41-13531 was delivered to Soviet Union with a convoy arrived on May 5, 1942; it was presented by a US delegation, and assigned to the Soviet top ace of the time, Lt.Col. Boris Safonov, of 2 GIAP VVS-SF, stationing on the Vayenga Air Base. The plane didn't bear good luck to the ace, that died on May 30, crashing with his plane during a mission of escort to a covoy over the Arctic Sea." http://www.mediafire.com/file/24cy2iyiazis811/P-40+White+10+Sofonov.7z 1

Could you tell me more about # 73 plz ? A link ? I've painted the others, I would like to do this one too. ++ Edited April 30, 2018 by PatCartier

PatCartier Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Yes but I think there is no photos of the other side of the fuselage or upperwings. So...

I'm finding that to be a real PITA skinning VVS birds-severe lack of photo evidence. I thought the Luftwaffe was bad till I started these P-40's lol.
