OrLoK Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Hello there I know it's not realistic what with blackouts and all but I'd love to see villages and cities lit up at night. Night flights are wonderful but so... bleak. Could this be done via illuminated textures? A *Simple* window glow would suffice. Don't hate me for this, I simply love night flights. Rgds LoK

Mitthrawnuruodo Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 (edited) As far as I know, this is not possible with the tools that are currently available. Only texture mods are feasible now. One could repaint the buildings, but that would just change the colour. Edited March 24, 2018 by Mitthrawnuruodo
Feathered_IV Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 I agree that it isn't possible. We cannot write additional code into the game such as what this proposed mod would need. We can edit existing textures and sometimes add new ones, plus edit the values on whatever files we can open as a text file, but that is about it.
OrLoK Posted March 24, 2018 Author Posted March 24, 2018 We have glowing dials in some planes. Could that luminosity be used?
=IL2AU=chappyj Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Depends Is there a lua script for say landing lights or searchlights that could be attached in x y coordinates to town blocks? In the end it might just be easier to make missions with search lights in the town's and not require a mod at all
OrLoK Posted March 24, 2018 Author Posted March 24, 2018 Oh, does il2 use lua like xplane? I'm utterly (obviously) ignorant programming wise!
SAG Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 i would love lit towns during night time, I agree it would look awesome. Sadly I also think that it is not possible at the moment, just like removing the radio static or changing the volume 1

Usually the luminosity is an illusion created by an overlaid texture. Skinning buildings in a separate layer is much easier said than done. I looked into it in the old I’ll-2 maps, hoping to replicate that fiery street plan view you would get over burning cities, but it was a no-go. 1
