Looking to buy a virpil T50 pretty soon to upgrade from my X55. I currently don’t have a rudder pedal setup since my current flight stick has a twist axis. What are you t50 users using if you don’t have a rudder pedals? Just bind the rudder to your keyboard? So the game even enjoyable with that kind of setup. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am using some cheap car pedals from a steering wheel (with the accelerator and brake combined into a single axis). Still better than using the keyboard for yaw.

I would recommend the Thrustmaster pedals that sell for $80 for cheap pedals if you can swing it. Very smooth for the price they were an upgrade from the 10 year old CH pedals.

Or you use a twist stick or use an rudder pedals, yaw control in keys or joy buttons result very awkward, is OK'ish  for taxi/take-off but not for combat.

This is a good idea, how did you achieve that? I have a g25 steering wheel and the pedals have to be plugged into the wheel. What was your method?

Mine are the same - the pedals connect to the steering wheel and that has the USB cable (Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP Wheel).

I simply kept the steering wheel (but I put it out of the way).

No point having a quality stick like that without any pedals but I understand that we cant really buy everything at once. I can't even remember what I used to do when I had no pedals but it wasn't satisfactory. It was around that time I began to realize how expensive flight simming could be, because once you go so far, you realize that you have to go further.  A good flight sim experience for me, now means a stick, throttle, pedals, jetseat, headphones and VR! It worries me that a breakdown in any one element of the machinery I use, could bring my hobby to a crashing halt, as I don't think I can live without any of them having now experienced them! Possibly I could live temporarily without the jetseat haha!

People assume pedals are only for taking off and landing but actually they are a great help when in flight or dogfights as well. I have VKB, they are brilliant pedals and I've never been tempted to upgrade them, but I think I waited more than 4 months for them! I love them especially for helicopters, very precise and as you push down on them (as oppose to slide them forwards) you wont need to mount them or worry about them slipping. No cheap plastic, they are all metal, simple and compact at a reasonable price.

I just got a virpil (Plan to write a review later). Sadly you have no choice, flying with that stick you need a pair of pedals!

This will sound crass, so I'll apologize in advance.

If you can afford Virpil unit, you can afford a decent set of pedals.  Once you get a set, you'll kick yourself for not getting them earlier.

That's pretty much the road I'm going down as well.  Only difference is the VR in my case, i can go back and forth between VR and track ir..... sometimes I like the cockpit immersion,  sometimes I like the better resolution with the better FPS. But I enjoy both either way.

well yes and no.  The thing is I have another very expensive hobby I'm invested in as well.... it includes a Z06 corvette :). I just juggle the 2 the best I can and still have a certain amount I let myself spend at a certain time.  I will for sure be getting rudder pedals in the future I just don't wanna spend the money on a set right way, because you know.....racecar haha

It was a 1985 SVO Mustang.  Took it from stock, completely gutted the interior, full roll cage, etc.  We sold it about 15 years ago, but I think I floated Summit Racing Parts for a few years. ;)
