Less fire and smoke

I know it's exciting to see our target full of smoke and fire, but in my opinion these effects are unrealistic.

See the film below, from 27 minutes:

The majority of the affected airplanes loose or little smoke or none.Fire is something rarer yet to see, and when it happens only lasts a few seconds. In fact, fire and smoke in large quantities should be modeled as something rare happened.See that even the highly flammable Japanese planes do not always show fire and smoke.

Of course that Bos is in alpha stage, and hopefully in the future the damage modeling would be improved.

In future I would like to see more sparks of bullets on the plane than instantaneous fire and smoke, as well as localized damage to the electrical and hydraulic systems as part of the damage model...

+1 to what you said and yes the damage model is work in progress. Good vid by the way.

Are all those guncams shots from planes with .50 cals?

In-game, it's the 20mm rounds that create the fire and smoke effects. Historical guncam videos from 20mm equipped planes show this kind of effect.

If you use the 12.7mm only in the LaGG, hit effects look (to me) like they match the video in the OP.

I'm not against there are smoke and fire, but proportional to fuel and flammable materials from the target. The smoke trail seems too extreme for the materials of a small plane an I got long smoke trails only with guns. To bombers and transport planes, on the other hand, more smoke and fire are most welcome.

Unfortunately videos from the Russian front are rarer. See the example below with the smoke trail that appears in my video:

It all depends on what and where you are shooting. The key word is sometimes. Sometimes there will be a show of fire and smoke and other times nothing. Unrealistic is always appears fire and smoke.

Anyway, is just my opinion.

Oh right, I thought you just meant local impact effects.
