CIA_Yankee_ Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 Hi there. Is anyone else having a problem in high density missions where time actually appears to slow down, even at x1 acceleration? I realized this was happening the other day when I noticed that I was getting far more accurate with the new update than before... after comparing to QMB 1v1s, I came to the realisation that the game was actually slowing down under certain circumstances (namely, when there were a _lot_ of units and objects active in the area). So I decided to time myself by counting 10 seconds in RL (using a chronometer), and then seeing how many seconds passed in game (using the cockpit clock). Sure enough, in one major engagement I saw that 7 seconds had elapsed in game in 10 RL seconds. Has anyone else encountered this? I don't think this is related to graphics, however, since I'm cracking a solid 80 FPS, and suspect its more gated by the CPU (same reason why time acceleration doesn't seem to work past x2 under normal circumstances). If anyone has encountered this issue, has anyone any recommendation to alleviate this problem? I'm afraid it makes the campaign rather less immersive, as my performance is artifically inflated (it's like activating a really weak form of bullet time ). I guess one option would be to reduce mission density, but I _really_ like the high density missions. Thank you.
TheSNAFU Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 (edited) As far as I know the slo mo has always existed in the game. It happens when there is a lot going on and the pc is under some level of stress. But that said I see it happening even as you noted when the fps are high and stable. I have no idea why it does this and to my recollection I've not seen an official explanation. All I can suggest is back down the density or other graphic settings and see if it helps. Maybe someone else has a better explanation or remedy. Edited March 21, 2018 by TheSNAFU
LLv44_Kanttori Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 I have noticed this, too, when there are much aircrafts near my plane...
CIA_Yankee_ Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 I've turned down the density and this seemed to help, and doesn't seem to affect the number of aircraft in the air (had some major fights since setting it to moderate). Still, it's annoying since it kinda makes things too easy. I'm guessing is CPU gated and related to AI or some such, since this problem doesn't manifest itself in multiplayer.

My Density was "Scattered" and still there was that slower time scale error... Do you mean that with the "Moderate" you don't have that issue?

We need more CPU optimalisation (BOS is single threaded) or let us reduce number of planes or units in the career even more than scattered

It hasn't had a very appreciable effect in the air: I still escort 8+ flights of bombers with 6 fighters, and run into similar number of enemies. I think it mostly affect density on the ground, perhaps.
