ZachariasX Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 Nvidia just announced ray tracing on their GPUs, with NVIDIA RTX, see here: https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/nvidia-rtx-technology-realizes-dream-of-real-time-cinematic-rendering Finally a way to have real time ray tracing that should really make the difference for our sim. As we bascally do nothing else as looking through window panes, there actually could be glas now. Too bad that it seems to require Volta (Titan V) generation GPUs, it's not for today. But finally a solution. Our cockpits will look very different once there's "glass" in the window frames, rather than dirty and scratched air. As Microsoft is introducing this as a standard to DirectX, there's real hope. https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/directx/2018/03/19/announcing-microsoft-directx-raytracing/ Looking good:
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 This is for the future. IL-2 is not on Dx12 yet, and probably won't be upgraded to Dx12 within the next year?
