How to get 90 fps most of the time with OR (YMMV I5-4670K@4.00+GTX1080 @2050)

Trying, like all of us, to get the best FPS in this game with great graphics in the Oculus Rift.

I managed to get 90 FPS in Carreer and MP WOL, EU, etc.servers flying above 500 M height all looks great and top notch like having a rift 2.0 . Not really but you get the (d)rift.

When I go below 500 Meter height i am having lower FPS but all is very smooth.

When there are more planes my FPS fluctuates down but all remains overall very smooth with great graphics, no microstuttering and visibility (so far).

Before I had a constant low FPS and difficulties with the overall quality and visibility.

YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary. Just trying to share for others like me who struggled with good graphics and good FPS in Oculus rift VR)

If it works for you I will be happy and you hopefully too. If not, well nothing ventured nothing gained.

I am not sure if all settings do have an effect but to be sure I wrote them down to see them all in case it does and we can continue from there to find out further improvements.

(One note on OC your GPU. Make sure you confirm that your GTX 1080 is Overclocking on higher speed. It could well be possible that your GTX 1080 is not running on max. speed. despite you having it set in GPU Tweak or other OC programs to do so. Is the OC program reporting/graphing the higher speed when you alt-tab out of IL-2 and take a look at your OC program if it does indeed?)

I only have the IL-2:Sturmovik: BOS with no other DLC or collectors planes so i do not know if this makes a difference.

Feel free to tip me with some collector planes, DLC, BUK a real airplane. Even ifmy settings did not work for you and i wasted your time. :)

In other words, drop the detail settings as low as they can possibly go.

Yeah, not me though just can't do it. I will take lower fps and better looks any day as long as I can achieve it and at least maintain a fairly smooth experience.

I tried balanced preset and clouds medium, ugh...

Full of anecdotal nonsense. Do you even know what each nVidia control panel setting does? BoX doesn't even use Physix.

Also, you're messing with color settings in the name of performance?

I second what danniego is saying here. It seems that even with the best rigs the lowest setting provide the best detail. From what I can tell as soon as you lose  89FPS the graphics and detail in general start going to junk fast. Getting 89fps and keeping it there is everything.

The only thing in Nvidia control panel that currently works in VR is the power management ( prefer max performance). Maybe can inject some fxaa through it.

FXAA seems to be working. Not well though. It looks worse than 2x ingame AA and costs more FPS.

Since going VR it's been like going back to the early 2000's, with ATI 9800's, X800's, 3700 processors etc with all the fiddling with settings going on to try and get those elusive extra FPS.

I don't think there is a holy grail/one size fits all solution yet, just do what works for you.

Ummm, no.
