At least one aircraft is coming this month from what was said in the DD, I wonder if we will get both this month?

"We plan to start the Bodenplatte Early Access program when they are ready" does suggest that the Spitfire F/LF Mk.IXe and Bf 109 G-14 will appear simultaneously.

However, I'm curious about "this month". Where was that said?

Can't wait for the first US planes to be available.  As much as I enjoy flying the German and Russian planes..it will be nice to understand the voices come out of my radio again.  lol

Also...the idea of flying a B-17 bombing mission in VR makes me all happy in my face.

Bodenplatte is focused on the tactical air war rather than the strategic one.

Also, see one of the many threads in the forum discussing strategic bombers and the problems they pose for the series at present.

How do you not know about 9th Air Force tactical operations and how that relates/doesn't relate to the B-17?

All you'd have to do is hit them from the front like the real pilots did, they have very weak defenses from the front and you have a very high chance of killing the pilots.

People don't seem to do this in multiplayer and just camp on the tail end of bombers, and then they wonder why they were shot down.

True to a sense. I have very good results hitting Pe-2's from the front when you can get them lined up. The problem is they are not flying thirty up in formation for the most part. You get one to three and the pilots yank them around like fighters upon contact on most servers. Lining up the head on with them is as much luck as anything else. I get head ons with fighters way more often than with bombers but I roll out of those 50/50 wconfrontations.

All the time?

In the day I often liked to push my nose low to his “cold” side, then pop up and make him fly through a burst.

Most of the time I just barrel roll to be a difficult target. Works most of the time.

I used to have confidence in my Fw's overwhelming firepower but there are an awful lot of good pilots with 37mm guns now a days and Spit's seem to own me 1v1. I'd rather push through and set up the next shot than take a 50/50 proposition most days. Fly an efficient curve and let them try to alpha turn.........

Gotta be smart in the Fw. Especially in the last year or so.

You also realize there are already 3 US planes in the game right now correct?

True, but to be fair they arent really THE US aircraft that most people really think of when it comes to WW2. P-51, P-47, and P-38 are always going to be the big three when it comes to US aircraft, at least in European Theater.

Plus it will be nice to have American and English voices in-game.

THIS.

P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, P-38 Lighting....these are the iconic American Fighters most of us knew growing up, along with the Pacific Theater carrier fighters like the Hellcat, Wildcat and the Corsair.

And yes...having English speaking radio chatter will be a welcome addition too.

Go to MODs look for Voice Pack in English for Radio Chatter VO.47 by 19/SAG, works OK.  Hope that's what you are looking for.

Yup, A P40N would be a great addition.

They served all over the Southwest Pacific.

One of my favs from 1946...even with Oleg's nerfed .50's.

Surely Oleg nerfed nuffing during his reign. He was a god.

I've always prefered the early P-40, like the B and C. They just seem to look so much nicer than the later variants.

The B and C model nose suits the sharks‘ teeth much better.

I like the Hawk 81s better as well, but, they actually didn't see a lot of service in the Pacific beyond their use by the Flying Tigers, and a lot of them being blown up at Pearl Harbor, and some in the Philippines.

The later Hawk 87 types did the vast majority of fighting by Curtiss aircraft in the Pacific.  We already have the E, for early scenarios, so the N is a very logical choice as it was widely used in the Solomons and New Guinea, and also in China, until gradually replaced by P51s in that theater.

Hopefully, if we would get the N, she'd be the lightweight subversion. IMHO, thought not a world beater but still could be a nasty surprise to the opposition.

Lightened version was only the N-1, they piled back on the weight for the subsequent versions, and N-1 doesn't have the new canopy that appeared on N-5 and later. What I want is P-40N with the interlinked prop pitch/throttle controls so it will be like the 109.
