MarderIV Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 I own the G-6 and the La-5FN and have started two different campaigns after filtering for them. I wanted to ask what particular day do these planes appear on the campaign itself, e.g. the G-6? I've carefully filtered G-6 at the campaign start page and made sure I began at the chapter and unit where they appear. However I find once the campaign initializes the squadron's inventory only contains the G-4. The same goes for the La-5FN, so I figured maybe these squadrons only receive these planes at a particular date in the chapter? Thanks!
1CGS BlackSix Posted March 19, 2018 1CGS Posted March 19, 2018 You can find Bf 109 G-6 since June 25, 1943 in I./JG 52 and since June 30, 1943 in II./JG 52. But I./JG 52 left front on July 3 and returned only on September 16 La-5FN - since July 24, 1943 in 249th IAP 1 1

I'm only in the first few days of June 1943 with both the Germans and the Russians. Glad I checked here first. I really appreciate the assist!
Voidhunger Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 I just had excellent fight in the career with G6. Beautiful scenery, autumn, dawn, some clouds. G6 is absolutely amazing plane! I love it! After I shot down 3 Laggs I headed home, fuel was running low and I was chased by two Yaks. After I gained some height I turned to fight them. Evaded some close shots and shot one down and damage the other one. Landed almost without fuel at misty, sunlit airfield. B E A U T I F U L!
Yogiflight Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Last night I shot down three La5FN with a G6 in a career mission, but they did not really defend themselves. Will have to try this with high difficulty, as I was in medium.

I notice in some furballs that certain sections appear to be quite indecisive about whether or not to pursue or go defensive. Then again I'm just as confused myself sometimes when things heat up real bad. Just earlier I was in an intercept mission over Anapa - 11 bombers and four P-39 escorts, with a further six lagging behind the formation a couple miles away. Out of the five I had shot down three didn't seem to notice I had been tailing them trying to line up a shot from a higher altitude. Perhaps they had been observing their own elements currently engaged and trying to process how to better intercept. Granted I'm not complaining. I think it's rather interesting the AI seem to be as nervous as I am as if they were in Iron Man mode themselves

I know, what you mean, but TBH my experience since 3.001 is different, AI is always aware of me and starts fighting with me as soon as I come near. What I meant with 'they did not really defend themselves' was, the first one was flying defensive maneuvers, but he did not fly the La5FN to its strength, otherwise it is very questionable, if I would have been able to shoot it down. The other two were just flying circles. I guess, they were already in their RTB routine, where AI, from my experience, tend to not really defend themselves.

For example an Ace or Veteran Bf-109 would generally start aggressively gaining altitude upon contact, this is considered to be the AI playing to the 109's advantage, whereas La-5FN AI doesn't really know how exactly what fighter maneuvers it would prefer given either offensive or defensive engagements yes? I'm actually pretty curious about how the La-5FN Ace AI should be maneuvering. I've only flown it a couple times, but a lot of times as an enemy and I never really thought that hard about it's AI save for the really short time it takes to bring it down with the G-6. It also seemingly has a hard time retaining optimal energy in turns now that I think about it.
