3uster3oo Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I just found out that the skins and template ROF . They are base on the same consturction that CoD. I hope that will be the same for BoS . Does that mean we could have a app Enable Historical Markings as in CoD.
A-E-Hartmann Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Does that mean we could have a app Enable Historical Markings as in CoD. Sorry, I expressed myself badly . I'm not talking executable but just how fabricated skins .
A-E-Hartmann Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 of the new, would be nice on a skin viewer .
onlyforbrian Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 This is nice news about user skins but where can I find user skins,? Is there a community download page like in WT? And once I D/L a user skin, how do I install it into the game...folder names etc? Thanks.
deleted@31403 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) This is nice news about user skins but where can I find user skins,? Is there a community download page like in WT? And once I D/L a user skin, how do I install it into the game...folder names etc? Thanks. Thanks to Yakdriver Look at line 10 for installation. Follow this post http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13622-skinning-quick-and-dirty-absolute-beginners/ I wanna paint my Sturmovik! 1 - get the template.zip for the sturmovik, from jason's post. 2- get GIMP, or any other of the Popular Graphics Manipulation programs (Adobe Photoshop CS2 is so outdated they don't mind you having it for free) 3 - open the Zip, and find the PSD file in there. 4 - open the PSD file with your Graphics program. 5 - understand that the PSD file is like a big set of transparent sheets of plastic stacked like a tower. You look at the sheets from above. On each sheet is one subject, like rivets, Panel lines, Stars and stripes, dirt and dust. You can paint on each sheet individually. You can turn them on or off for better viewing or to hide them. 6 - find the Sheet that's called "your paint here". Take a Brush and get painting. Or put some stickers on there like for Formula one cars. Your mind is the limit. 7 - Save the PSD file to someplace safe 8 - find a DDS plugin for your particular program (Nvidia DDS plugin for Photoshop is what i use) Install that Plugin. 9 - open the template again. do a "save as" -> DDS file (i chose DXT5 ) and give it a descrptive name "hellokitty_G2.dds" 10 - put the dds file in the game/data/graphics/skins/nameoftheplane/ Folder. 11 - check the result in the skin viewer. - anyone feel free to comment or correct the course , am new to BoS painting. - Edited by Yakdriver, Yesterday, 16:48. onlyforbrian Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Twolate, I appreciate the answer, but I'm no good at painting, You misread my question, I don't want to paint them, I want to install other people's nice paints into my game. Thanks anyway.
AndyJWest Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Onlyforbrian, user-generated skins go in the relevant folder in IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics\skins.
onlyforbrian Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Thanks Andy, now I just need to find skins online...wherever that is lol.
FlatSpinMan Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 BTW, that file is only created with the latest update. I went looking for it and worried until I realised my problem.
Yakdriver Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Thanks Andy, now I just need to find skins online...wherever that is lol. we were given the ability to paint two days ago. it is normal that noe are available in dedicated webspaces, and will not for some time to come.
