Career Bug - Flight MIA

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Was flying the first dynamic campaign, in a flight of P-40s, on a mission to attack a light vehicle column. After the first vehicle was destroyed I got the "Mission Critical Objective Complete" message, and the rest of my flight went back toward base, without ever firing on the column. I then spent 3-5 more minutes attacking the column and destroying as many vehicles as I could. Finally, I turned home, and then exited the mission as I had already gotten the message saying I could safely leave.

Once I got back to the mission status screen, it said that my entire flight had gone MIA, and that my pilot for that campaign was captured, effectively ending that campaign.

Is this a bug? Did I do something wrong? Has anyone else experienced this?

It's been reported as a bug.

Travelling tip...so to speak. Don't attack first. Allow your flight time to participate. They will surprise you with their gunnery. When you RTB after getting the MCOC message, I think you have to land. I only tried exiting early twice during testing (with bad results). Be advised, if you safely land at a friendly airfield but NOT your home base, your mission results will indicate that you made a Forced Landing or Ditched.

Currently as LukeFF indicated, exiting prior to landing is a losing proposition (bug).

When you exit the mission early, make sure you are over friendly territory.  If not you will automatically listed as captured.  It was the same way in RoF.  I’m wondering if this is also true of AI squad mates in this game.  I just lost my bosom pal Lytkin and two others when I returned to base early after being wounded.

That's the issue with the AI - it doesn't matter if you exit the mission while over friendly territory or have landed back at home base. If the AI is still over enemy territory when you exit the mission, the mission will flag all of the AI as killed or captured.

Have you tested exiting early when your mates are back in friendly territory? My beta test attempts all ended with mission failure.
