Mmaruda Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 I knew this moment was going to come, but honestly I was in doubt. Gaming in general is in a crappy phase nowadays and niche products such as simulators seem to take forever to mature (just look at racing sims - no pit crews in most of them, same goes for rain or even tire swaps in some cases). I had this feeling and I blame a certain flight sim that shall not be named, that were are constantly waiting for something, instead of being there in the fight, enjoying every last bit of it. And IL-2 had it's fair share of development hell. But finally here we are! A versatile plane set and varied maps? Check! Awesome flight model and the best damn damage model out there? Check! Ability to host our own coop and dogfight server? Check! A bunch of community made and official scripted campaigns? Check? A fully customizable dynamic campaign? Double check! LA-5FN? Yes baby! 150 km view range? Hell yeah! Rain on the canopy? You have got to be kidding me, but check! I woke up today morning, took a shower, cleaned my apartment, ate some breakfast and... I simply launched the game and flew a mission. Shot down a 109, escorted the IL-2s back home, did a perfect 3 point landing. After that I smoked a cigarette and drank a small glass of scotch. For the first time in years I felt like I am not missing a feature that was there in the sims I used to play a decade ago, or that there is huge patch coming in three months that will add or change stuff that I need changed or added for this or another reason. All I thought about was to convince a bunch of guys on my discord to get off their bums and fly some online with me. I am telling you people, life is GOOD. 4 2
Avimimus Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 I know right! About my only fault I could find is that defensive circling behaviour that dates back to Rise of Flight days... but I'm sure that'll be fixed someday?
