Salutaitons,

So I took a stab at the new career mode, and encountered a problem with the cover mission types (ferry cover, and I think something like troop cover), and I believe this is a bug. Here is what I experienced:

  1. Mission starts normally, flight makes its way to its cover position
  2. Flight orbits cover position for a LONG time. Use of cameras shows that no other flights have spawned yet.
  3. Enemy flight spawns some distance away from cover position, likely headed for position.
  4. IMMEDIATELY as the enemy flight spawns, the mission is declared successful and the active waypoint becomes the egress route.
  5. My flight (I'm flying as wingman here) immediately RTBs, leaving the troops we're supposed to cover as uncovered.
  6. Enemy flight moves in and attacks with impunity.

I believe #4 above is the bug. Mission is being declared complete prematurely, just as the incoming enemy flight spawns, and so my flight just heads home without engaging the incoming enemy flight.

This occurred in an early Moscow campaign, with medium front activity, on hard difficulty.

Thank you.

Are there supposed to be some career missions in which you don't encounter enemy planes? I had the same problem with the ferry mission, but I could have sworn I have had fighters attack during the same mission, but it might have been a different mission type I can't remember.

My first mission was a escort  ferry mission and I didn't run into any enemies, but I assumed it was just a mission where nothing ended up happening, which is why I was wondering if there is supposed to be action for every mission.

Well, from the ones I've flown, so I think that you're meant to have an encounter, but you don't due to bugs.

Basically, if you're not using external cameras to view enemy flights (CTRL+F2 and so on), when the enemy flight spawns, you won't actually know that they spawned. All you do is get a mission complete message, and then your flight heads home. But if you view the enemy flights, you'll see that there's a force incoming to what you're intended to cover.

But if you just head home when told to, you will never know that there's an enemy flight inbound. Given how often I've had that issue repeated on me, I am confident it's a bug or some sort.

I have this same problem. Multiple ferry cover missions that have had 0 enemy activity. Haven't tested the late spawn theory but they definitely do not show up at the target area during mission time.
