How to extract game files?

What a nice surprise it was to see that the mods-on mode has finally been introduced!

I'm trying to access any of the character portraits and text files related to the singleplayer career, however everything within the .GTP files seems to be encrypted when using Kegetys' gtp extractor tool that was used with RoF to such great effect.  Without any way of opening the Non-FM/DM files as a basis to tweak, modify or enhance them, the mods on mode is of little practical use.

Has anyone found a way of opening the non-critical textures and text files of the game?

Seems like we're all stuck on the same boat. We can easily replicate folders structure but as original files remain inaccessible, we basically have to create files from scratch - not a doable solution for textures, for example.

A word from the dev team would be highly appreciated!

I can't, sorry!  Lord knows I've tried.  The voices have a separate static sound that plays at the same time.  The static is the problem.  It is locked within the FSB audio package and can't be modified in a practical sense.  Any efforts to improve or change the voices make the static deliver a concentrated burst that mucks everything up.   The only hope is that the devs either make a better set of AI speech, or they move the static samples out of the FSB package and into the IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\Audio\radio folder where we can deal with them.

I ve used audacity and changed the voice files, the outcome is very good, the static is heard over but it doesn’t create a problem at all. Maybe you recorder with wrong settings?  It’s in Greek for LW and this is the download link in case you want to hear how they sound:

Audacity is a free audio program : https://www.audacityteam.org/  record, apply whatever effect you want, save as .ogg

Not too hard only time consuming.

P.S. Many phrases in the actors folders are the same, you can record once and then bulk apply effects to make them sound like a different person. The ones that I posted come all from one person and recording. I know that it’s gonna be “all Greek” to you but you can test how good it sounds.

Hi Volker, it isn’t that which is the problem.   It’s more the timing of the static.  For example if I replace the “I’m wounded!” sample with a longer one, the burst of ear splitting static is caused, in proportion to the length of the new sample.  Accessing the static samples and replacing for a blank one is the only way around it that offers much scope.
