Game does not read mouse button input and partially keyboard input.

Hello,

when I start the game, be it from launcher or Il-2.exe,  the game fails to:

recognise mouse clicks,

recognise keyboard input like enter, escape etc.

fails to minimise after alt-tab, it still stays on top, and does not allow any window from below into foreground.

Pressing alt-shift-esc once showed windows type-cursor as the game allowed mouse to free from the window, but I could not click anything in it.

Pressing alt-shift-esc second time allowed to perform me one click in the game login screen. When I got to main menu, it didnt even allow me that procedure to click, mouse buttons and keyboard just went dead.

I tried rebooting PC several times, reinstalling the game, using Restarter.exe, resetting my configs. Nothing helps.

The game now, if launches, behaves like malware. It didnt behave like this before update. Right now, it is unplayable.

PC:

Windows 8.1

Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz

GTX 1060 6GB with 390.77 driver

HyperX Predator DDR4 16GB (Kit 2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16 DIMM 1.35

My game fails to alt-tab the same way. I found that if I alt-atb twice then it works. I saw in another post that you had a second screen installed? If so have you tried starting the game without that second screen plugged in? Hopefully someone with more knowledge can assist you soon.

Without the second screen I would not be able to kill this game. It didnt happen pre-patch.

I ve got a similar problem , the game sometimes lose the mouse cursor (it suddenly disapear) , and the only way to navigate in the menu is with keyboard arrows and "enter" ; sometimes cursor come back magically without doing anything ....sometimes not ...sometimes he does not disapear at all ...strange ...

To notice that when the mouse cursor magically reappear , oftenly left clic on mouse make the game shut down with error message : il2.exe stop working ...

It s not a mouse related problem ,  my mouse is perfectly working anywhere else ...

Really strange ...

You might want to disable "full screen" mode. Though I'm not able to find the file containing video settings at the moment. I imagine you wouldn't be able to do that from in game due to the nature of your issue.

Hi,

go in your games directory - in the sub-directory called bin you should find a file called startup.cfg. Just open it

with the notepad (don't worry you won't brack anything). In this very same file you should find an entry called

"fullscreen = 1". The value equal 1 means that you run your game in full screen, so changing this value to 0

will disable the full screen mode.

No, please trust me - open the file I told you and try it that way. If you feel insecure, so make a copy of

your file, before you modify it.

Hey, and make sure you have full access rights to the whole folder and sub-folders. OK?

4th reinstall attempt

Can anybody tell me what the hell is going on? I reinstalled the game 4 times and now it is shouting that steam_api64.dll is missing, for STANDALONE GAME, even though IT IS IN THE SAME FOLDER INSTALLED! Now I cannot even start a 80$ game. I tried to do so as administrator, as normal user, in every compatibility mode. Nothing.

Calm down mate,

is it possible, that you initially installed the game through Steam? Because to me, it looks like there are

some remnants of Steam in your registry and even when you installed the game separately without Steam,

but in the very same directory, this might be the problem when your registry still refers on Steam.

Please, check your registry first.

Cheers

I am sorry, I was really desperate. You are right. I will try to install it on completely different device and hopefully it will work.

Yes, but again - please clean up your registry or you might run into the same mess again. OK?

Good, I cleaned registry, installed on different drive can launch the game, but the game still fails to read mouse and keyboard input.

EDIT: Ok I dont know what happened but it works now. Thank you for your help and again, sorry for losing my temper.

You don't have to excuse yourself - I can quite understand what you were going through and sometimes

I loose my temper too. Just wanted to encourage you - no critique intended here. I'm glad you managed

to make it work.... and now - enjoy!

I used to have this issue, strangely I found that disabling my Anti-Virus solved it for me. Not sure if it'll help here. Glad it's fixed though! Just dropping this by.
