Blasterlasvideo Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 (edited) I am a DCS A10C pilot interested in discovering what kind of fun I can have flying in IL2 BoK (bought and installed ). I am trying to map certain general functions on my CH Fighterstick and throttle in a similar way to how I have the Hawg so I can keep things straight when I switch from one to another. My 64 yeear old brain like to keep things simple . Question.....is there a shifted function I can assign to a button, so I can assign regular and shifted function to one button like I can in DCS? UPDATE - It seems it doesn't. Bummer. Edited March 15, 2018 by Blasterlasvideo
dburne Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 Unfortunately no, I so wish we had that ability in the game. You will need to use third party program or your joystick software for that.
Sokol1 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 (edited) Not possible in game controls options, but you can set this with 3rd part program, e.g. CH Manager or with the easy to use Joy2Key or SVMapper: Topic link Or if you are comfortable with edit files with Notepad++, can ad the modifier button manually in "current.action" file (option recommend only for "advanced users"). von_Tom Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 You don't need anywhere near as many controls in BOS as you do in DCS, and you can assign multiple controls to the same button so the same thing works in different aircraft e.g. open radiator/open cowl flaps. I doubt you will need a shift function at all as the Fighterstick has plenty of buttons and no doubt your throttle will too. Ignoring an entire series because of a lack of shift function does seem somewhat of an over reaction. Give it a try and see if you like it. von Tom

I agree with you it really needs this ability built into the game itself, and I have asked about this and brought it up many times in the past. I am hoping one day they will have the time and resources to make this happen, along with individual plane setups as well. I have managed to get by ok with just using it as is for my button commands though, and it works fine for me. I do so hope they can do this at some point though. The sim is very well worth it to try it out and see how you get along with it before giving up too soon. With this latest update, it truly is quite an incredible combat flight sim. It certainly gets the bulk of my attention.
Blasterlasvideo Posted March 16, 2018 Author Posted March 16, 2018 Well I created a HOTAS binding configuration that is close to the A10C so my poor aged brain doesn't explode when I switch from one to the other. Game sounds to good to miss out on.
Thad Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Salutations and thank you for the CH HOTAS binding image.
Blasterlasvideo Posted March 16, 2018 Author Posted March 16, 2018 Your welcome. Im sure it will change a bit when I start flying, but Im told by a big IL2 fan that its a good start. Cheers!
