It's not as uncommon as thought though, an Il-2 pilot Emilianenko wrote about put his plane in the dirt when he saw a group of Messers go for him. Once down he ran away from the wreckage and hid himself so he could return to his unit alive.

 

Yeah good point, did not think of that, was in panic mode - if it happens again will give that a try.

Do you fly Ironman. (dead is dead) mode? 

I am in my third JU 52 leg in career, I fly that kite so little , it need some love get many of these calm moments

 

This is taken while I am in 8 x time , but it was the only one I did with time shrten so far, I really like the new Stalingrad textures, and fly slow and low. I have already expirienced two attacks from fighters, wounding me once and clear one the second. Love career mode too. Will do a A 20 career simultanious so I get a bit action once in a while

Yes I do, I am on my third Spit Career as well.

Ironman is the way to go, I did that in Old IL 2 154 missions alive in a IL 2 and a stupid end. Wingtip hit a parked plane on return and the plane exploded

Iron man games are hard when you play as one guy in a war.

 

I played Iron man all the time in strategy games like Xcom, total war etc, but in those you can afford to lose sometimes since you`re the leader governing from a distance- Everyone else dies for you. lol.

 

Here, you, your squad gets wiped out, you get shot down, you crash, you die, you dead. But it does a good job of reminding me of reality!

Promotions and Medal Awards

 

I would love to see some video scenes of your character being promoted or awarded a medal at the end of the mission.  I remember graphical representation of promotions and awards in Microprose flight simulators from years ago, I really liked the idea.  It would be a great addition to the SIm.
