Uriah Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I have been flying both BOS and COD purposely comparing the two in regards to how the 109e4 from COD behaves vs. the 109f3 of BOS. Those two planes are the closest I can compare for flight behavior. At the current state in BOS I find the plane far more stable and '0 to 400' much faster. I expect the speed difference. But what stands out to me is how the planes behave when they go into an unstable state. I am thinking of when I am say speeding along at 350 IAS and pull the stick back. In COD what happens is that the plane begins to spin and from the cockpit point of view it seems to spin on its axis. Compared to BOS it happens rather quickly and is hard to get out of. In BOS this will happen much slower and is much easier to get out of. Often I get just kind of a half spin that I am able to recover quickly from. I am particularly interested in others experiences between the two games in this respect. 1
RAF74_Winger Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 The original Il2 and COD are both very strange with regard to spin entry, there never seems to be an incipient spin stage (which is very easy to get out of - just get the stick forward and the wing flying again), just an immediate spin entry. BOS is much closer to reality in my opinion. W. 1
71st_AH_Hooves Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Ive noticed that pilling straight back on the stick in a half full of gas 109 will not produce a spin at all. It just seems to slam into a 45 degree airbrake. Not sure how a real 109 does any of this but it doesnt seem right. Now do that same move with the gun pods and its snap stall city. So its obvious all the weight is modeled. Im sure if it needs tweeks it will get some.
