xaoslaad Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 Congrats to 1C and 777 on the new release. I am loving it so far. I own all of the IL-2 games in the current series (BoS/BoM/BoK), though I haven't been playing much because of the lack of Coop until now. I managed to get through editing a simple mission last night and think it will work for what my friends and I like to do now. So I'm excited to suggest to them to buy one of them so we can start flying together in IL-2. I know that as long as I add an aircraft they own to a mission they should be able to fly in it. My belief was that they would however both have to buy the same one so they have access to a common map. But after reading this page: https://stormbirds.blog/2017/03/12/which-il-2-should-i-buy/ I am unclear, because it says, "Multiplayer is compatible across all content releases so if you are on a server that switches from a Stalingrad to Moscow map you can keep playing – so long as the server owner has made aircraft you own available.", which gives me the sense that all maps are available to all players. Can someone clarify whether you need to have a product and therefore map (or set of maps) in common to fly together, or if they each go and buy separate products if we can all three fly together? I think in the end they may both get the same one to start so we can fly common aircraft, but if they both have strong feelings about one aircraft or another and they can go after different products I'm fine with doing what I need to in the editor so we can fly in the same space, so long if that is a realistic expectation. Thanks!
Pupo Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 As far as multiplayer is concerned you have to own the plane you want to fly. Maps don't matter. If you only own Battle Of Stalingrad Premium edition, you will be able to fly in the Moscow, or Kuban map, but you will be limited to flying the 10 aircraft of the BoS version. 1
