For crying out loud Americans SEED THE UPDATE

60 mb/s internet speed, I get off work and spend 8:30pm-11:30pm downloading the update with an average speed of 2.5 kB/s. 

 

For crying out loud this is unacceptable. Eventually I said screw it, I didn't even get it updated.

Try changing the launcher settings to Prefer Web Distribution and see if it goes better.

I'd really recommend having steam for BOS, as unlike DCS  both steam and non steam versions are pretty much in sync. Download took me about 15 mins on steam was able to not only download the update but also reinstall it!

Yup, steam really is the way to go these days.

 

Even with my really bad internet connection ( peak speed of 500 kb/s,  average speed of ~20 kb/s, average downtime of 20% ) I was able to finish it in less than 6 hours. I just turned steam home when I left home at noon (GMT+1), and when I came back at midnight I had BoK standing there, ready for me to enjoy.

 

You don't even have to launch it when you just want to play Il-2. You can just skip steam and launch the normal launcher. I just turn steam on when update time is around the corner.
