How to get rid of this weird stair effect? Graphic problem

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I took a small screen video and would like to know how to get rid of that?

https://1drv.ms/v/s!Aisud1EkzMbUmxPlOy8jSxnDgaKJ

I went in my Nvidia settings and put Antialiasing FXAA and Texture Filtering (Anisotropic sample) at On, but I still have that. I didn’t touch Anisotropic Filtering which is at Application Controled.

In-game I have Vsync and Antialiasing too.

Also, I have questions regarding Landscape Filtering. Should I use Sharp or none? I tried blurry, but that wasn’t looking good. Between sharp and nine I didn’t see differences. There is also another Sharpen setting, but it make everything look fake for me.

thank you

Not working on Mobile I think. But you can download the video and watch it.

Hi Nic,

my suggestion would be as follows:

- NVidia Control Panel: Use one of those presets (slide bar - performance - balanced - quality)
and just leave it as is.

- NVidia Control Panel: V-Sync should be "Use the 3D application settings"

- In game graphics: Select V-Sync ON, Antialiasing 2-4 (depending on your system)

Here are some screen shots of my system (as a hint for you):

Hope this will help you.

no it don t, actually i found FXAA do a good job in this sim if you use only 2x ingame AA, just use the Sharpen option on in game with and you wont notice much the blurriness that FXAA can cause sometime, but personally i did so many AA test because i really don t like in games with  the stairs effect, the shimmering, glittering etc... with the last update the settings who make the biggest difference for me are:

ingame

4xaa  (that is the most efficient setting for the Aliasing, over cities roads and all other object) 2x + FXAA do a decent job for the close to your view things but far thing in view are still

too much jaggy for my taste

landscape filter blurriness on

Sharpen on

distant landscape detail 3x

in nvidia inspector or regular nvidia panel

(enhance application settings) on

(Antialiashing transparency multisampling) on (important one too, need the previous enhance option on to apply)

(FXAA) on

(i used to make MFAA work but since it make much glittering over cities and trees i turned it off)

the gtx 970 (oc) keep a steady 70-80% usage with no peak usage anywhere even with all other ingame setting to the maximum,

for the rig i have those settings are the best quality balanced for aliasing of object, shimmering on edge of rivers, fences , beached and roads, and the glittering of cities and trees,

now only thing i m still testing are the preset to high or ultra,  and horizon distance, not for performance cause it don t change much for me,  i just realized reducing those settings help for the far clouds stairs effect  , but it add much blurriness everywhere else on screen if i reduce it too much, i m working to find the good balanced in next days

i know it s a static view, but, i got rid most of glittering cities and trees, roads, rivers and beaches are almost no aliasing, and one of the worst thing that annoyed me was the fences around house they were like barber shop lighting effect thing  , almost all gone too now, and graphic are still sharps, it is now lot easier to see planes on the deck without all those

thing moving everywhere on the screen.

Thanks for posting this, I tried these settings and it worked wonders...getting rid of a persistent micro stutter even although I had a reasonable frame rate.

Literal game changer for me, saving lots of frustration wasted time :)

glad it help you in quality and stutters, you can try the ingame  setting sharpen off   too, it can help for the glittering on certain situation, far view trees on Stalingrad map per example

unfortunately for me my graphics are very good too butt i still have micro-stutters, i tried the vsynch tips on from driver instead of the ingame with the non-full screen tips on the forum (from Jason) and don t help me, it just make the gpu going from 75% to 95% usage.
