3.001 Game is Crashing when enabling HUD in the P39!

Hey, i think there is a bug with the P39. After flying a quickmission i realised that with HUD on it was shown the imperial messurements for speed and altitude. Because im bad at math and normally use the metric system, i changed it to metrtic messurement in the options. After flying another quickmission the game crashed instantly after enabling the HUD. After switching back to plane dependant, i can perfectly enable and disable the HUD without any issues.

I tried the metric system on the Spit and had no issues. Seems like it is the P39 and it would be nice if others could test it so i can be sure its not my system and that the Devs can fix it. Thanks for the Update btw, its awesome. ;)

Likewise, I started my career today flying a P-39. As soon as I enable the HUD it freezes.

Same here. But also when i try to open the map. Any button causes a freeze.

PS: Tried the LA-5FN and there is the same problem. Pressing I causes a freeze.

Yeah I'm trying to find out what the problem is but at the moment i cant figure it out. I tried in normal mode just takin the p-39 for a spin and it freezes too whether i press map or try to turn on HUD. Does anyone else have this problem and know what the solution is cause I'd really like to fly this bird!

Sometimes it works. Maybe when you fly one of the older birds before you pick a new one.

Confirming the above. For me it happens only with the P-39 and only when I  manipulate the map function

Workaround is to start with one of the older birds in a quick flight mission. Then you can pick the P-39 or LA-5FN and everything works just fine.

A new player in this sim here, only started flying today, and only on P-39. I was wondering what I was doing wrong when hitting "M" was causing instant freeze, while hitting the Esc afterwards resulted in crash to desktop.

Well, I'm "glad" to read here that apparently it wasn't my fault, though I wouldn't mind having the minimap functionality in this airplane! Waiting for a fix, then.

This seems to be correct. So it has nothing to do with the messurement shown in the HUD for speed and climb like i thought before. Thats why my game didnt crash after testing it with the Spitfire. Good find! ;)

Uh, the Cobra seems to be causing lots of heqadaches. I've just spent almost two hours trying to do some flying with it, but ending up mostly restarting the game again and again and again after multiple semi-freezes (with game not reacting to most keyboard inputs or TrackIR, had to kill it with Ctrl-Alt-Del) or crashes to desktop. Each game session was started with P-39 being chosen as a first plane to load in the quick mission builder, so maybe BoK just  doesn't like it indeed and I should start with a trick John Banks advised above. Managed to make one short flight and that was it.

Half of the freezes and crashes were TrackIR related (paused or unpaused while loading the mission), the other half HUD related. Trying to go to any settings in the mddle of the flight, apart from keyboard ones, causes freeze or crash as well. Boy oh boy, does the plane need some fixes or what... When it works it's fun, though. Loaded Yak-7 for a minute and that one doesn't seem to be causing similar issues.

Being new to the game I don't even know how to troubleshoot it and investigate which crashes are P-39-related or general 3.001 related.

Win7x64 plus NV 388.71 drivers here.

Does BoX create some crashlogs and if yes, where are they stored anyway?

After a couple of days of testing, for what it's worth, the game+P-39 combo seems to be much more stable when used with full screen mode on.

At first I played with it off, as per Jason's performance advice, and suffered from various issues highlighted in this thread. With full screen on, I don't have TrackIR-related freezes anymore, and Briefing map doesn't cause problems either.

No workaround found, even if I go back to previous settings

But if I fly another plane before, it is ok

Note that this still happens in 3.005

Salutations Pilots.

I just ran through one of my single player missions with the P-39. I experienced none of the problems posted here.

But I must declare that I am not using TrackIR and am not playing in Full Screen mode. ?

After veryfing integrity on steam, every thing was ok with the files, so it ISN'T a problem from missing files

Try flying another plane in the QMB before you take the P39. It should help! You need to do it only once per gamestart and not before every mission. ;)
