Hello.

Something has changed after the update with my OpenTrack setup(TrackHat)

When looking backwards, roll has been inverted. It's really confusing me and is just not logical in my head. Anyone else experiencing, and hopefully know how to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Same thing with TrackIR 5.  Never used to happen before the update but now I can't look behind correctly.

Ah, so it's not only OpenTrack. Then I'm hoping for a fix really soon, because it's really annoying.

Yeah, I've checked in CloD and 1946, it's only BoX that is affected. Normal roll when looking behind in previous IL-2 games.

This isn't flyable - my brain melts when I'm trying to look behind and the inputs go inverted.

I did a temporary fix.

Put in 10 degrees deadzone on the roll axis. It's atleast somewhat playable now.

Which version are you using?

I'm using the one that's tailored for TrackHat.

Same issue where roll is inverted when looking rearward.

Latest version of trackIR, had no issues pre patch

I tried uninstalling BoX, removed all files related to the install and user settings. Fresh install - still no go.

Disabling roll axis in TrackIr helps but you lose a fair bit of visibility in various aircraft. It is pretty much the only way to play without the extreme disorientation when dogfighting.

Jason said they didn't change how TrackIR was implemented into the game but something has obviously changed to cause this.

Thanks for trying out the reinstall, Hawkeye.

Where did Jason state this?

Same issue. TrackIR 5. No change to settings for my TrackIR software before or after patch. Will try my VR in a little bit.

Just checked my TIR software and its doing the same thing as it does in BoX now. Not sure what changed. I'll see if I can roll back the driver for it.

I'm having this issue with TIR5 as well...  I just re-installed the TrackIR software and the issue is still present in the software even with new profiles.  I'm thinking this issue might be related to Windows 10 users.  Problem started after the latest Windows 10 patch last night/this morning...

for testing purpose i did put a flat line (zero) (roll)value in opentrack mapping, and i got a strange result,

getting in a 109 and i press my opentrack shortcut key to re-center view, my head his rolled to the right aprox 45 degrees by default.

I imagine there is a file that giving roll to the head by default somewhere,

I actually just tried IL-2 CLoD just for testing and it actually works fine. I may actually play it for a while before a solution is found for BoX.

with all those new goodies in BOx i don t want to,  lol

if you can live without roll while you wait for a fix,

-put a flat line to zero in roll mapping

-on the main tab of opentrack, click on option and give a positive value of 30 deg to roll

****edit: may have to use the F10 key in the plane ,  to recenter correctly

it work very well for me and hope it can for some other pilots

Version 2.3.9

The contents of my Opentrack ini file. It might not be useful as I use 'Roll' to move my head sideways because I switched from TrackIr to EDTracker and that does not have the sideways head slide.  It was no problem for me as I always disabled head roll in TrackIr anyway.      Make a file called XXX.ini in the same place as your default.ini and copy this into it and see if it works then if it does you can always tweak the settings to go back to how you like yours,  hopefully without bringing back the problem.  If it does bring back the problems then at least you will know what change caused it.

How does it work well if you turned it off?  This isn't a solution for which these folks are looking.

well , the folks want to be able to look behind the plane without the roll problem, removing the roll while we wait for a fix work very well for at least 2 of us

and don t need to yell at me, just don t try it

Odd because that setup is specifically designed to switch the head roll past 90 degrees ie when you look towards your 10 o/c your head moves left relative to your body as as if you are rolling your head to the left but when you look towards your 8 0/c  your viewpoint moves *right* compared to your body as if you are rolling your head right (as you do in real life)   All I can suggest is that maybe TrackIr is also trying to change the head roll and the two of them are cancelling each other out.

yes odd , cause roll work  if i look forward, before the 90 degrees and not if after, and this with relative translation option on or off , it don t change anything...

At least now when i look back, the head don t roll behind the pilots seat so i cant see behind, x y z work just like before

Same issue, I dont like it but I´m going to either disable roll or relative translation.

I normally have roll disabled in opentrack, so I enabled it to test, and I see the same issue with the roll. Did not matter if relative translation was off, or on.

Go to your Opentrack options and turn on relative translation and see if that helps.  If it is on try to disable it on roll axis.

TrackIR has a similar function called TrueView - I've tried it both on and off and neither option works. BoX seems to ignore this option selection and just inverts the roll axis when looking rearward. CloD / XP11 / P3Dv4 / 1946 all function correctly however and do respond to the trueview option. Something in BoX's implementation of face tracking has changed.

I have the same roll problem on Windows 7 with TrackIR 5. I had the problem before a Windows 7 update later in the evening after the Il-2 3.0001 update. I flattened the roll response for now until the issue is resolved.

I dont have an option for Relative Translation, only Translation Compensation, but that only works for forward and backwards.

I opened a ticket yesterday and got a response today:

Hi,

We have not made any changes to the data interchange protocol with TrackIR

That's it.
They are denying they have changed something, but there's no doubt something has changed. Maybe not on purpose?
I suggest everyone having these problems opening a ticket and state that they are also experiencing these issues.

I very much like to have the roll function as it helps immensely with orienting myself.

Yeah, and Jason / Mods keep deleting my replies to comments that point out they have said 'no changes and that its our own fault for messing up the profile.'

Not sure why they feel this censorship is required when I've recorded the problem and I'm just trying to help them by providing as much evidence as possible..   I suspect your post here may get deleted too.

Is that the generic OpenTrack or the one for TrackHat?
