Seed download for all to benefit?

Hey just a thought, I’m not sure if it works this way but does the ‘seed when download’ section of our launcher/updater make the game into a sort of torrent and help others download faster?

sort of paying it forward in a sense? Few people get the download quicker then others and since they’re seeding it helps X amount of people download faster... then we won’t have the download overloaded from the il2 server..

 

i may may be totally wrong but I’m guessing since this will be probably a huge update we will want to smooth things out for our community... 

then after a few days we can “un-tick” it of course

 

does it it work like that or am I completely wrong???

I usually try to seed the download after playing the new patch for a while. My internet is pretty fast and isn't metered so it's easy to do. Hopefully it helps a little.

With my 3Mbit down,  0.3Mbit upload I will be struggling to get the patch myself, let alone provide significant benefit to others by seeding. Haha.

Well, I’ve got 150/150 so I’ll be setting it to seed as I’ll most likely be transitioning to day life on my off days... hopefully it will help ?

In steam you can't seed I think

Spartan that is exactly how it works. I usually allow the seeding/torrent for a day or two while the patch is new then turn it off after that. It used to affect the game/used memory in EA but I’m not sure if that has been resolved since then.
