Graphics card prices are silly right now.

Unless things change than the most common graphics card will be the 1050 series for many.

The supply and price situation will slowly resolve itself. Crypto mining is getting less and less profitable, 2 months ago a GTX 1060 6GB would generate $$3.50 per day. A month ago they generated $2.00 a day. Yesterday they generated $1.10 per day. The electricity cost at $0.12 per kW/H is around $0.30 per day per card. Assuming the GTX 2060 renders the GTX 1060 useless for mining (almost certain) and an expected release date of sometime this year, there is simply no way to turn a profit off a GTX 1060 if you buy one now. The situation with the GTX 1070, 1070 TI, 1080 and 1080 TI is similar.

I'm on a huge computer forum in the UK, and there are quite a few ex mining cards appearing for sale. Hopefully some sanity will return to the market as I would quite like to upgrade now I have a Rift, but I'm not paying current prices.

I would think your 980 TI would be enough for BoX. My 1080 TI rarely exceeds 60% usage with 1.5 PD (steamVR setting).

Raising prices? Again? Current "middle ground" is an extortion, let alone high end. Current "budget" card cost as much as absolute enthusiast high end did not so long ago... just how far are they gonna push this bullshit -_-

Not sure I have fully tapped my GTX 1080. I am usually 2 yrs behind anyway.

In truth, I don't want anyone to lose their cash, but there would be a guilty laugh and a half involved if Bitcoin crashed and those people with 30 1060s end up trying to off them at $75 each because there are suddenly 15,000 of them for sale on Fleabay.

I wouldn't feel bad for the miners at all. I hope they crash and burn!

It seems nvidia's next gen will the tensor cores after all, they will be used for real time ray-tracing.
