SCG_motoadve Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 Since coolant radiator is automatically controlled in the 109, gauge is most of the time during flight at the same position (shows a bit colder at start) If you get shot and loose coolant, have you guys seen it rise to the top? Also if changing to manual radiators in flight (fully opens them) have you seen the temps get lower? Oil temp ,also automatically controlled radiators, but seems to be that one doesnt work, I get a message oil is too hot but needle has not moved.
Yogiflight Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 I didn't try, what happens, when your radiator gets hit, but I am quite sure, it works as it should. But if you go to QMB fly with radiator in auto mode until you reach your temperature, and then select manual mode and open your radiator flaps, you can see how fast the temperature decreases. For the oil temperature, the gauge in game doesn't work, unfortunately. IRL the pilot had to press the button on the right top corner, to see the oil temperature. But I had never troubles, that my engine stopped working because of too hot oil temperature. The only times my engine quit, was after flying too long with max power. 1
