Expected to be released on the market on Q2 2018.

 

If they make it on time, with a new VOLTA graphics board from Nvidia, it will be a killer. 

You get 4K per eye, and 200° field of view. Again if this is what we get, then all the others will be standing in the dust.

Now I only hope that our devs will manage a good driver for  this VR headset.

I have bought no headset yet and play on a 4K 40" monitor. But if such a headset becomes available (800$ at least) the no need for a monitor anymore.

Wow, huge thread Indeed. Missed it. It seems it will not be BOX compatible. This may push me to restart my interest with DCS if it is compatible with it.

You won't see a retail product in Q2. As a "far down the list" Kickstarter, I am not expecting mine until June at best. We won't see hand controllers until Q3 so Q4 is a better guess for a retail release.

It will be BOX compatible, because it uses Steam VR. 

 

The only problem I foresee is the scaling problem that people are having with Samsung VR, because of the bigger FOV.

That scale/IPD and resolution issue  means that it is not compatible. 

 

Let's hope the devs fix IL 2 in this regard. You got to call a spade a spade, and a two a two.

Ok, it's not "fully compatible". I actually would call it more a bug than lack of compatibility.

 

But even this we actually don't know. Let's wait and see!

One are requested to have video through the lens of IL2BOS with the 8K.
