thewoo1 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Guys I have searched and followed checklists etc and I am just not getting this. Question 1 is the csu same as prop pitch? Problem is as follows: lagg starts properly and idles . My throttle is on joystick and when I move it I see the lever move and the hud indicates percent of throttle. Next the prop pitch lever moves when I use the other joystick lever. Settings as,per flight checklist. When I kick throttle up hud shows increase but no increase in rpm it still idled. I have tried changing pitch but engine rpm stays at 238. I see post where it says set rpm to 2700 with csu but I am not getting this.If I can just get the rpm up I will get it off the ground . Ty in advance Edited December 30, 2013 by thewoo1
andyw248 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Assuming that you talk about the LaGG-3: Refer to this topic: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2220-labeled-lagg-3-cockpit/?do=findComment&comment=52078, verify that your joystick levers are correctly mapped, and then try this: Prop full forward Mixture full back Increase power Now your RPM should rise.
Rama Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 You should also verify that you're using the right game options (no automated CEM)
Finkeren Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 It would seem that, contrary to what Rama says, you are indeed using full CEM, but that you aren't using the constant speed propeller governor properly ("CSU" refers to "Constant Speed Unit") It definately sounds like you have the governor set to "idle rpm" rather than "max rpm", which is what you should use for take off. This means, that the prop is only generating a fraction of the thrust it should at full throttle. In real life doing this can be extremely damaging to the engine, as it runs extremly fast without pulling much (think of it as trying to do interstate speed in a car in first gear) Check your control settings for the CSP governor. If you have it set to a slider or lever, you might want to invert the axis.
thewoo1 Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 That's what is perplexing the levers move and they are the correct ones everything reacts except the Rpms dont increase
Finkeren Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Can you post a screenshot of the throttle quadrant in the in-cockpit view? That way we can determine, if the levers are indeed where they should be.
dburne Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Check the prop rpm lever in the cockpit, for takeoff it should be in the full forward position.
thewoo1 Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 Guys thanks for the help ...problem was engine was not warmed..when I checked warm engine box it functions properly..sorry didn't realize engine wasn't warm enough to take off. Thanks
