deimos256 Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 I’ve been playing BoM for about a week now and I love it, but I have a question regarding hat switches. Currently I am using a TM Warthog and I’m using the main POV hat for view panning, however it only pans in seemingly one direction at a time, so for instance I can’t pan up and to the left at the same time by simply pushing to hat switch to the spot between up and left. Has anyone else been able to make this work? Thanks for any input.
Sokol1 Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Try the different modes of POV HAT use in the game selecting then by F9.
deimos256 Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 I’ve cycled through all the f9 modes but it’s a moot point since I have the hat switch mapped to the 2 pilot head axes. I just hoped that the game would be able to reset both axes at the same time, though maybe that can’t be done since a hat switch isn’t axes but digital switches.
Sokol1 Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 (edited) Quote I just hoped that the game would be able to reset both axes at the same time, Through HAT you can't "reset both axes at the same time", but need use a button key for do this "reset", like the center function in TrackIR. Quote however it only pans in seemingly one direction at a time, so for instance I can’t pan up and to the left at the same time by simply pushing to hat switch to the spot between up and left. This don't sound much practice because POV HAT diagonals is not a physical button (a "8 way" POV HAT has only 4 buttons), but a combination of 2 near buttons pressed simultaneous decoded in controller firmware as diagonal, so move the HAT in a given diagonal without first move for a side/up or down is a bit trick. But you can test this control with 3rd part soft. Joy2key or Xpadder has mouse emulation and allow use POV HAT "8 ways", but you need erase the POV HAT assignments in game controls first for try this, for avoid commands conflict - make a backup of "Input" folder for the case want go back. This method is used as workaround for CloD poor camera control for non 'headtrack' players. In that way you are using the "mouse vision" already possible in game, but through the POV HAT. Anyway will need a button/key for fast "reset both axes at the same time". Edited March 6, 2018 by Sokol1
deimos256 Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 This is exactly what I was looking for. I’m not worried about centering my view, I have a button mapped for that. I’ll try out the programs you mentioned. I also understand the hat switch only has 4 buttons, I was hoping t.a.r.g.e.t had the ability to address this but if those programs will do the mouse emulation I’ll give that a try instead. Thanks!
Sokol1 Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 TARGET can do this through the advanced programming, but for a fast test of the idea use Joy2Key, set this with few clicks.
deimos256 Posted March 7, 2018 Author Posted March 7, 2018 (edited) Edit - Well I finally got it working. Not sure anymore which tweak I did to get it to work but I finally can pan diagonally now and that’s all I wanted. Thanks! Well I got joytokey set up. POV works as mouse just fine in windows but as soon as I get into the game the POV hat stops working as mouse. I made sure to run everything as admin and I have gone through the key mapping’s and removed every mention of POV hat in the controls and it still won’t work. Edited March 7, 2018 by deimos256
